Home description
Built in around 1840 from the local granite and oak, Le Puy makes the perfect rural getaway. The house has a huge fireplace in the living room and beamed ceilings throughout. We've carefully decorated the house and furnished it with a range of antique and new items to create a stylish base for your holiday. We like to think the feel is 'French rustic chic'.
As well as being very well equipped and comfortable, the house is only part of the attraction. Outside you'll also enjoy the large pool and gym as well as walking some of the 15km of private pathways on our estate. Wildlife abounds and there's also a herd of dear, Mouflon goats as well as several pigs to keep any eye out for and feed.
The views are incredible from the house. The only signs human life are two pretty châteaux. Other than that, it's beautiful rugged hillsides and soaring buzzards. The barbecue terrace looks directly over the garden and down to our château beyond.
Although the house is out of the village there's a good range of ships and restaurants within a short drive and we've compiled a guide to help you find the best ones. The region is rightly famed for the quality of its Limousin beef.
If you're looking for a stylish but restful rural holiday with lots of good walks, swims, bike rides and wildlife watching thrown in, then Le Puy is the perfect place for you!

The Limousin / Auvergne / Creuse region
The Limousin is one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of France. With rugged forest clad hills, rivers and lakes it is a nature lover's paradise.
Bourganeuf area
There are regular large local markets as well as the Crusader castle at Bourganeuf. Lake Vassiviere is a short drive away and has beaches, water sports facilities and a sculpture park.
Riding and shooting can be arranged locally.
The local village of Peyrat-le-Chateau is very pretty and is perfect for the morning croissant run and has several bars, restaurants and cafes.
The slightly larger town of Bourganeuf to the north has a busy market day and a former Crusader castle to explore.
There are two supermarkets within a ten-minute drive to keep the larder provisioned and we provide a guide to all the local restaurants.
Lake Vassiviere is one of the largest in France and offers boat trips, sailing, water-skiing or swimming from one of its many sandy beaches.
How to get there
The house is a one hour drive from Limoges airport which has daily budget flights from London, Southampton, Liverpool, Newcastle and East Midlands. Car hire facilities are available at Limoges airport
The house can be reached from the Channel ports in around 6.5 hours vis the A20 motorway.

Guestbook for Le Puy Farmhouse
"The views were amazing and the silence priceless. Loved the cranberry bedroom on the top floor, gorgeous fabric, comfy bed and pillows. It was all lovely" Francine Woodhead, Huddersfield
"We spent most of the time photographing deer and all the other wildlife. Those pigs are real characters. The house was perfect. Well thought out and really comfortable. That fire place is spectacular!" Kate Johnson, Kiddiminster
" I didn't leave the pool area for most of the time. Cracking views. We'll be back" Nik Downs, Brighton
"The thing we liked was the attention to detail. Lots of plates and stuff in the kitchen. Loads of books and DVDs. It was a real home from home and beautifully done. Thanks for the venison. Hate to think how much that would have cost in Bristol" Mandy Suhr, Bristol
