Home description
Take Five is a luxurious, 3 bedroomed villa, set in its own private, exotic landscaped gardens with large pool. For those jazz lovers out there it will be unnecessary to explain that we have chosen the name of the house to convey an oasis of relaxation, a place to chill and "take time out".
The jazz theme ripples through the house, reflected in the stylish décor and artwork - even a CD or two lying around. You won't be able to miss nights out at the internationally renowned Waterfront Cafe in nearby Bridgetown.
Take Five is a newly built and upgraded villa set on a small, intimate development of individual houses located right by the shores of the Atlantic. A short, 2 minute walk from the front door leads to the hand carved steps that take you down to the beautiful coral sandy beach of Bottom Bay - one of the most beautiful and relatively undiscovered beaches on the island. Here you can enjoy the unparalleled beauty of a tropical paradise, and even ask a local to shiny up a nearby palm tree and pick a refreshing coconut for you.
We have furnished Take Five with high quality, stylish and comfortable items throughout. The gardens have been exotically landscaped with tropical plants creating a private idyll with a totally Caribbean atmosphere. The super sized pool is 30 feet in length - sunbeds are provided for relaxing around it.

The St Philip Parish region
Think of Barbados and what do you come up with - images of blue seas, frangipani, rum, sugar cane, calypso, gospel songs, palm trees and coconuts - the list is endless. The climate is warm all year with temperatures rarely dropping below the mid-70's. There is a good road infrastructure so getting around by car is easy - and its great to explore. There are numerous bus services around the island for those not wishing to drive.
Barbados is divided into a number of parishes - the largest of which is St Philip, which is situated on the south-east coast and where Take Five is located. The famous Crane Hotel is just a short drive away with its numerous restaurants, entertainment and much photographed beach.
There are a number of walks that you can take from the villa with breathtaking views over the Atlantic and to various isolated beaches along the coast - not least is Bottom Bay, the most beautiful beach on the whole island and only 2 minutes walk away. There are no snakes or poisonous insects on the island, so walking is enjoyable (for those of you with various aversions!).
Wherever you go in Barbados you will see impromptu games of cricket being played - whether on a bit of scrub land or one of the many well tended cricket fields. Scattered around everywhere are the ubiquitous rum shacks which are great fun and a must to experience.
Night life and great restaurants abound, but worthy of a mention all on its own is the Oistins Fish Fry (best night is Friday) where you can eat a freshly cooked fish meal by moonlight, on a golden sandy beach by the Caribbean Sea, and then dance the night away under the stars.
Bottom Bay / Apple Hall area
Bottom Bay is so beautiful - with its coral sandy beach, coconut trees and blue Atlantic waves - and only 2 minutes walk away from Take Five. It is relatively undiscovered, so the chances are that you will have most of the beach to yourself. There are plenty of other beaches, equally attractive, within walking distance, if you want a change.
The location is quiet and is well placed for visiting many of the island's main attractions. There is a small local shop and bar at Wellhouse, which is about 1km away, as well as several other local rum shacks. Five minutes drive away is the Emerald City Shopping Mall at Six Roads with a large supermarket, bank, stores and a couple of restaurants. On a few evenings a week there is a local fish fry on the road to Six Hills where you can buy wonderful, freshly cooked food. For a taste of local cuisine try the Watering Hole restaurant - a short walk from the villa. Before you go it is advisable to plan your trip by investing in a good travel guide. Some of the festivals (such as Crop Over) and annual events are worth planning your visit around.
How to get there
There are regular flights from the UK, USA and Canada - late deals and discounted tickets at various times of the year are worth watching out for.
Take Five is only 15 minutes drive from the airport and car hire and taxis are easily available to obtain at the airport.
We can help with advance car hire bookings to ensure that your car is waiting for you on your arrival - either at the airport or the villa.
It is enjoyable driving in Barbados, not least because the local drivers are polite and considerate, and the roads are good; driving is on the left hand side of the road.

Further details indoors: The master bedroom, with its super-king size bed, has a walk in wardrobe and an en suite, with 'his and hers' washbasins. In each of the other 2 bedrooms we have provided 2 single beds, and to enable versatile sleeping arrangements each pair can be conjoined to produce a king size bed. All bedrooms are fully air-conditioned, and there are ceiling fans in all rooms. A large bathroom is located between the 2 bedrooms, ensuring that all the bedrooms are separated from each other.
The lounge is equipped with a super large high definition TV with a DVD player that plays both US and UK DVDs. We have provided a good range of CDs (not just Jazz!!!) to play on the Music Centre, which also has an IPOD connection. In each of the rooms there are electrical sockets for the US and UK type plugs. There is also a telephone with free calls to anywhere in the island, and there is also internet connectivity.
The kitchen has a lovely granite work surface and is fully equipped with a whole range of gadgets and labour saving devices, to ensure that you have the least amount of hassle during your stay. We have included a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker and American style fridge with ice maker, as well as the usual kitchen appliances. There is a washing machine and tumble drier in a separate room off the terrace to keep the machinery noise away from the interior.
The temperature is constant all year round in Barbados and the spacious outdoor terrace is a wonderful place to relax in the fresh air but out of the sun. Here is the dining table and chairs for al fresco dining, and also a comfortable lounge area for just sitting and chilling - or for drinking that G & T!
Further details outdoors: The swimming pool is unusually large - a good 30 feet in length - and pool toys and loungers are provided to enable you to enjoy, chill and relax as much as possible. Due to the constant, year round high temperatures, the pool is unheated and the water is wonderfully cool and refreshing. The patio area around the pool is made from a non-slip material for added safety.
There is a WC just off the terrace so that, should the need take you, it is not necessary to traipse through the house in a dripping swim suit! There is also a poolside shower provided to wash off any sand if you are returning from a beach visit.
The gardens all round the house are fully landscaped with indigenous plants such as frangipani, oleander, bougainvillea and palms. At the front is a driveway with sufficient room for 2 cars to park. There is also a barbeque for cooking by the pool.
Further details
Our manager will meet and greet you at the villa to help you settle in and find your feet. She will explain that a maid service is provided and once a week the house will be thoroughly cleaned and fresh towels and bedding will be provided. If you require additional cleaning, barbecue, high chair, babysitting service - or even a chef to visit you to cook a Bajan meal and serve it to you on the terrace - she can arrange this for you.
Water from the tap is perfectly fine to drink. We have fitted filters to the incoming water supply to minimise the lime content.
We have installed security bars at the doors and windows. This is just a safeguard, crime is not prevalent on Barbados, but it is better to err on the side of caution.
Additionally, we have fitted mosquito netting at all the windows which does help to keep the nippers at bay.

Whilst bookings of a week or over are preferred, we are flexible and would be happy to come to an arrangement for any time period.
