The St Philip Parish region
Blessed with a sizzling tropical climate and palm-fringed white sand beaches, Barbados is close to paradise. There’s so much to discover – from the natural beauty of tropical flowers and breathtaking rural landscapes, to plantation houses and historic towns proudly preserved in Bajan culture. The gentle, laidback rhythm of the island is both captivating and calming – the perfect combination for a summer holiday. The friendly, fun-loving Bajans are also famous for spicing up the balmy atmosphere with live Caribbean music and colourful calypso dancing.
Barbados is an island of FESTIVALS including: the Jazz Festival and wind surfing championships in January, Holetown Festival, Holders season and the Gold Cup in February and March, Gospelfest in May, the famous Crop Over celebrations from July to August, and the surfing championships in November, to mention just a few (I think you'll agree that there's something for everybody).
The Bottom Bay / Apple Hall area
WEDDINGS are very popular on this beautiful island and Bottom Bay beach has become quite "the place" to have your own personalised wedding ceremony. Many of our guests have been on the island to attend a wedding and found hideAway the ideal holiday home to stay in.
Emerald City SHOPPING village at Six Roads is less than 10 minutes away with supermarkets, banks, petrol station, Dr, post office and restaurant with children's play area. The large, well-stocked (with local and international brands) supermarket is open every day from 8am to 10pm except on Sundays when it closes at 3pm. This is one of the best supermarkets on the island.
Polo, horse riding, biking, Segway, Zip Wire and hiking are all available at various locations on the island.
hideAway is located on the beautiful south-east coast of Barbados in the parish of St Philip. There are a number of breathtaking bays and beaches nearby including Foul Bay, The Crane*, Palmetto (Merricks), Harrismith and Sam Lords - to name just a few. There is also excellent surfing within 25 mins drive at Silver Point (South coast) and the world famous Soup Bowl at Bathsheba (East coast).
*Named “One of the Top 10 Beaches in the World” by the Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous and the BBC’s Holiday program says that Crane Beach is one of the “Top 100 places to see before you die.”

| Airport: | Grantley Adams International: 5 km |
There are daily flights from the UK, US and Canada. The villa is only a 15 minute drive from Grantley Adams Int'l airport with hire car or taxi easily available. If you do choose to hire a car the island roads are good, and local drivers are very courteous, so driving is a pleasurable way to see this beautiful island.
A regular local bus service runs from Bottom Bay to Bridgetown (as well as other area's of the island), although we would recommend hiring a car to see as much of the beautiful island as possible.

Having visited Barbados since the '70's, I was not disappointed with the location of Hideaway. Peaceful, close to a quiet beach, handy for zipping up either coastline in our hire car. The villa itself is just lovely. Well equipped, tastefully furnished. Great to take a dip in the pool at any time of day - or night! It was lovely to be greeted by Jan and to get to know her and John - lovely people! The advice and information they have at their fingertips is amazing. Our only disappointment is that the holiday we had looked forward to for so long is now behind us. We will certainly come back to HideAway as soon as an opportunity presents itself in the future. Response: We're so glad that you and your family enjoyed our "hideAway" as much as we do and I will certainly pass your kind words onto Jan & John. We would love to welcome you back in the not too distant future :) |

“Highly Recommended”The villa is in an ideal quiet location, with excellent facilities, and is very well maintained. Bottom bay 5 min walk is a best beech in Barbados you can recognize on all post cards and magazines! Thank you. Response: Thank you for the lovely recommendation, and we agree that Bottom Bay is the best beach :) |

HideAway is comfortably furnished and very well maintained. The housekeeping, grounds and pool maintenance were all great while we were there. The pool is small, but very enjoyable. The neighbourhood is quiet and seems safe. Bottom Bay is relatively far from the main tourist areas, so a car is essential. It takes 30 to 40 minutes to drive to most of the main public beaches (including Accra Beach, Miami Beach, Mullins Bay) and tourist attractions. Because the East Coast of Barbados faces the Atlantic , most East Coast beaches including Bottom Bay have a very rough surf and are not good for small children swimming - or if windy like when we were there, not safe for anyone to swim!. The West Coast public beaches are worth the drive, they are beautiful and have great amenities including parking, food, drink, bathrooms, etc. Overall, HideAway is good value and a great base from which to explore Barbados - as long as you are comfortable driving. |

Electricity consumption - on arrival at hideAway our property manager will read the electricity meter and advise you of the reading. Included in your rental price is 125 units a week of electricity consumption. Any units consumed over this amount will be charged to you and deducted from your security deposit . Our experience has shown that the villa can be comfortably operated on 125 units consumption per week. The unnecessary use of air conditioning and nightime pool floodlighting can increase electricity consumption substantially.
The owners of hideAway villa do not accept any responsibility for any loss, damage or injury to persons or their private belongings however caused whilst they are renting the property. Please ensure you have adequate insurance to cover whilst on holiday in Barbados.
