About this location
The Nottinghamshire region
Close to the historical towns of Newark, Grantham, and Melton Mowbray. Also Belvoir Castle can be seen from the village, only 3 miles away.
Good access to the city of Nottingham.
Many good cycling and walking routes are found in the surrounding countryside.
Bottesford as a village is steeped in history, being classed as the capital of the Vale of Belvoir, with the 200 feet high steeple to the main church (Lady of the Vale) which can be seen for miles around. The local Bull Inn was at one time run by the sister of Stan Laurel (as in Laurel and Hardy) and they visited when performing locally.
Only a short drive away and you can find the family homes of Margaret Thatcher and Sir Isaac Newton (and the apple tree where the apple w said to have fallen).
Belvoir Castle is only a cycle ride away (up asleep hill!) which is home to the Duke and Duchess of Rutland with fine grounds and grand displays inside the castle. This is also the occasional venue of the CLA Game Fair, Fireworks Display competition and numerous concerts.

"Clean and comfortable haven"
We recently spent 2 nights at the cottage, booking the accommodation to be near Newark for the antiques fair. The cottage was unexpectedly spacious and uncluttered. All mod cons. Above all we found it to be spotless. We received a friendly greeting from Anne and Dermot and the girls and an excited welcome from Belle and Clover. The village is small and lovely to walk around on a summer evening. After walking around the Newark showground on both days it was lovely to grab a takeaway, kick our shoes off and watch the tv having a sofa each! Later sinking into the oh so comfortable beds. The complimentary breakfast was just the thing to fuel us for the day. Thankyou Anne and Dermot for your "nothing is too much" attitude.
