The Caleb Beal House is an ideal location to stay if you are visiting Boston, Cape Cod or touring New England.
Hingham is beautiful and a typical New England town with all the amenities you love on your vacation including lovely restaurants, cafes and local shops and stores. The house is downtown and mostly everything is within walking distance.The harbour and town beach are at the end of the street.
The Caleb Beal House was built in 1832 by Caleb Beal .We are still investigating his life but he may have been a tin plate worker and dealer in hardware stores afterwards involved in navigation work . After several years he converted the house to a double residence and rented at least one side to a sea captain. Hingham harbour was busy with trade and numerous sailing ships at that time.
Hingham is a historic town for many reasons and it is notably where the early Pilgrims settled and home to the Lincoln family

There is a direct train and Commuter boat (from Hingham Shipyard) to Boston and also a bus service. You can drive to Boston in 35 minutes outside commuter time.There is good access to Boston Logan airport by commuter boat and train.

The house is cheerful and comfortable with hard wood floors throughout.There is room to relax,read a book or plan your day.There is also a cozy screened porch overlooking a small garden area
We have a small selection of books and games, internet access,TV with cable and DVD player ...handy for that rainy day and we provide a log for the fires for those cool evenings in the fall and winter months

The Caleb Beal House is a Colonial style double residence set in the historic downtown area
The townhouse is in a lovely location where you will be able to meet the locals and enjoy the village setting.
There are restaurants and cafes within walking distance. Enjoy breakfast or lunch at "Stars Restaurant " , Fine dining at "Tosca" and "The Square Cafe" and sitting on the terrace of the lovely "Tosca Cafe"
There are ice cream shops so loved by the New Englanders and many more places for you to discover in the town.
Parking is available to the rear of the house
The owners live adjacent and are readily available to assist and answer questions.

Boston is 17 miles to the north and Plymouth and Plymouth Plantation 21 miles to the south

Traditional 4th of July parade with a Road race and in the evening Fireworks over the harbour
Concerts indoors and outside many are free,Bell ringing in the Bell Tower, Tours of traditional homes,artists homes and gardens,Farmers markets, Craft fairs on the harbour ,Old Ordinary Museum,Old Ship Church ,Library,Cinema in the village, Hay rides in the Fall, Christmas in the Square with Santa
South Shore Country Club, has challenging 18-hole golf course. There is also a 10 lane candle pin bowling alley, three tennis courts and an outdoor swimming pool.
