House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
Oysters is set in a fantastic position overlooking Bosham Channel - it has one of the best views of the water in the village. Ideal for those keen on sailing, as Bosham is one of the premier sailing villages in the area, it will also appeal to people requiring a comfortable base from which to explore all the outstanding events in the area, such as the Goodwood motor sports events and horse racing at both Goodwood and Fontwell.
The courtyard gardens face the water and the house is adjacent to the famous old village pub, the Anchor Bleu. The property has recently been re-decorated and is a good family house - great for either winter or summer breaks.

The West Sussex region
Bosham is a coastal village in West Sussex, popular for its wide range of activities, places of interest and outstanding natural beauty. With good transport links along the coast to Brighton and Southampton, the variety of outdoor and indoor pursuits will keep the most active of visitors occupied, from good local shopping, mountain biking, racing at Goodwood and Fontwell, golf and a wealth of scenic walks, Sussex really has something for everyone. Just further along the coast is the famous sandy beach of West Wittering, regarded as one of the best beaches in the south of England. The cathedral city of Chichester lies just a few miles to the east and it offers a good range of shops, the beautiful cathedral and the internationally renowned Festival Theatre.
Goodwood is also within driving distance and has the famous race course as well as the motor sports events. The larger towns of Portsmouth and Brighton cane be accessed by road or by rail from Bosham via Chichester.
Bosham is one of the most picturesque and historic villages in West Sussex, famous for being the rumoured site where King Canute unsuccessfully ordered the tide to retreat and for the Saxon Church which appears in the Bayeux tapestry. Bosham is now well known for its active sailing club, sitting on a pretty creek at the edge of the 30 miles of navigable channels of Chichester Harbour, an important wild life sanctury. To the north of the village is the station, with easy access to London Victoria via Chichester to the east and London Waterloo via Havant to the west. Links by road to the A27 to Brighton, the A3M to London via guildford and the M27 to Southampton are nearby.
Local attractions include Goodwood, with its stunning racecourse and motor racing circuit, Polo at Cowdray and the historic Cathedral city of Chichester, with wide variety of shopping and the renowned Festival Theatre.

This must be one of the most difficult reviews I have ever written as there are so many good things about staying at Oysters but also alot of negatives. The position is perfect right on the waters e… More
Thank you for your review. It is great to see that you found lots of positive aspects about Oysters but we are also sorry to see that you thought there were some negative points as well.
We are really not sure what could have caused the smell on your arrival. Oysters is kept very clean by the housekeepers, as you have said. It may be that, at low tide, the exposed seaweed and mud flats can sometimes give off a slightly unpleasant smell and so perhaps this was the case at the time of your arrival.
There is a stair lift at the house (but no Zimmer frames) and some of the older guests who stay do find this very useful. The stairway is quite wide and so the stair lift does not really get in the way at all.
The furnishings and decorations at Oysters are not "modern" or in a minimalist style, but many guests see this as adding to the character of the house. A modern and minimalist style is not, perhaps, to everyone's tastes.
We do hope that the positive aspects of the house outweigh any negative thoughts you may have had and we do hope that you will book with us again.

"It was sublime we could have stayed longer."
We loved the property, in a perfect location, next to the local pub (the Anchor Bleu ) and within walking distance of a superb restaurant.
The only reservation we had was cooking Christmas Dinner on an Aga cooker (the only means of cooking) having never used one before. However it all went well, but people need to be aware of this.
We would definitely return.
Thank you for your review of Oysters in Bosham. It is great to see that you enjoyed your stay so much and that all went well with cooking your Christmas dinner in the AGA. They are not difficult to cook with once you get used to them a little.
If we can be of any assistance to you in the future, please do let us know.

Oysters is in just about the best location possible. When the tide is in the water comes to the front wall and along the side road. When it's out, you are able to walk across to the other side. Lovely flat walks available, as lengthy as you like.
The house is basic, with a 50's feel and the atmosphere of a previous lady owner having left their odds and ends around. Rather sweet. Great views from every room.
Eat next door in the Anchor Bleu, although other pubs and Indian Restaurant within walking distance (you must enjoy walking to come to a place like this). Come with swan and duck food to keep the resident birds happy.
We had a couple of minor niggles while we were staying in Oysters but this was resolved quickly through the agent.
If great location with peace and quiet is a must - Oysters if for you!
