Starting life as a 19th century Wesleyan chapel and later becoming the village post office after a string of fascinating uses along the way; Hitherto now offers friendly, two bedroom, self contained, apartment accommodation in one of the oldest and most attractive streets in the county.

A set of 14 slate topped steps with sturdy wrought iron railings lead to the stable door entrance and short hall way to two double bedrooms, one large room with emperor sized bed and one more cosier sized double, both overlooking the picturesque old village street and waterfall of Jordan river below.

There are two bathrooms available, one with shower and the other with a shower over bath, both opposite the bedrooms; a fully fitted kitchen with oven, dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator etc and large dining and living areas with extendable pine table and chairs and two large sofas, one converts to a comfortable double bed, and freeview television perfect for relaxing after a long day at the beach or hiking or what ever adventure you choose to fill your day.

A few yards further up the street, on the site of the 11th Century Bottreaux Castle and overlooking the beautiful view down the Jordan Valley, is a private suntrap garden belonging to Hitherto with summer house, picnic table and grassed area perfect for barbecues or just catching the sun with a good book. There is also an area at the front of the property for off street parking for two vehicles, a rarity yet a must on this popular street in the summer months.

The beautiful harbour, local shops, pubs and restaurants are a pleasant 5 minute walk down the hill (10 minutes back depending on your fitness), and a slightly steeper but even shorter walk up to the Napoleon; a 16th century inn and restaurant at the top of the village.

Tintagel, just under 4 miles south, has a wider range of shops with some great pubs, restaurants and takeaway facilities as well as being home to King Arthurs Great Halls and Medieval Castle. There are amazing cliff walks along the dramatic South West Coast Path including the beautiful Rocky Valley and St Nectans Glen, as well as lovely walks upstream along the wooded Valency Valley to St Juliot church restored by Thomas Hardy.
