Home description
Medieval house with terrace situated in historical centre, below the castle with winding cobbled streets and stone steps. Coming into the house from street level is a sitting room, with sofa bed, kitchen and terrace. From the terrace there are lovely views over the town with sunsets over the sea. The house is on two floors with a bathroom on each floor. There are two good-sized, airy and spacious bedrooms on the downstairs level The local people remember the house as a place full of singing and dancing and this is reflected in its homely and friendly atmosphere. Between May - September, there is the possibility of renting an additional self-contained "cantina" with its own entrance , kitchen and bathroom on the ground floor of the house - especially suitable if more space were needed for young people who wanted to be partially separate but still part of the family or group. The cantina has its own charm - built into the rock and beautifully restored.

The Sardinia region
Bosa is on the North West coast of Sardinia, 40 km from Alghero. The whole island can be explored by car from this part of the island as roads are being constantly upgraded. The climate is mediterranean - June, July and August are particulary hot, but it is renowned for having 300 days of sunshine a year. Even in November and December there may be long periods of very warm weather, although night temperatures are lower. There are benefits at any time of year - the Carnival in February, the wonderful wild flowers in April and May, perfect swimming and beach weather and night life during the summer and excellent walking conditions during autumn and winter. The light is always spectacular - particularly significant for people who like to paint or who enjoy creative pursuits.
Bosa / Bosa Centre area
There is a tourist office that offers walking, boating and cycling trips to other parts of the island. Museums explore the history and culture of Bosa and the area. Local art gallery. Bosa Marina offers water sports and long, unspoilt sandy beaches. The surrounding area has many ancient sites to visit . There is a local market and in summer months, regular markets selling local and regional food and hand-made artefacts. There are local festivals - particularly the carnival in February, the river festival in August and the Regnos Altos in September. All neighbouring towns also have their own festivals around these times. Local people are very friendly and particularly welcoming to children. The house is less than ten minutes walk from the town and to the beautiful river Temo. There is a wide range of restaurants, all offering delicious, tasty food and friendly atmospheres as well as tourist office, museums and art gallery. The town is liveliest in the summer months when the population triples, but at other times, the quiet can be relaxing .In the spring the nearby cliff-tops are covered with colourful flowers and plants. The local beach (Bosa marina) is a must for young people especially in high season, with its clubs, restaurants and long, sandy beach.Driving to other nearby beaches offer swimming, walking clambering over rocks and snorkelling. Many beaches have cafes and showers. The historic centre is the perfect backdrop for a romantic holiday or honeymoon. There are festivals throughout the year when the whole polulation of the town gets together to celebrate.

Further details indoors: Walk ing into the sitting room from street-level, the apartment also has a bathroom and a kitchen leading onto a terrace that overlooks the town and the sea. Down original stone stairs, are two bedrooms - one double bedroom plus single bed, one with 2 bunks and one double sofa bed. Also a double sofa bed in sitting room. Could sleep up to 8 people if using both sofa beds as double beds,in the summer months using the terrace for dining. It is suitable for families, extended families, groups of friends and couples. Because of certain medieval aspects of the house, care needs to be taken on stairs going down to the bedrooms, particularly for toddlers and elderly people. However, because there is a sofa bed and bathroom on the street level, this floor is ideal for people who have minor mobility issues. The cantina (available between May and September) offers an extra double bedsit/self-contained apartment with its own kitchen, shower and bathroom.
Further details outdoors: The house is renovated tastefully and painted bright yellow and this is an attractive feature very much in keeping with the whole historical centre. The terrace is an important feature of the house, and can be used for eating meals, barbecues, sunbathing, drying clothes or just looking over the town and sea-views. There are shutters on all the windows that are useful for keeping the rooms cool in the summer and for keeping the sun out during siesta time. The streets are very quiet - it is very rare to see a car and indeed no cars can get down the street that is overlooked by the bedrooms.

Guestbook
We arrived in Sardinia tired and tetchy and have returned rested and relaxed. The island, or what we saw of it, is beautiful and the flowers fantastic - roses, geraniums, mimosa plus the wild flowers by the roads, not to mention the fennel. We enjoyed Bosa which is like stepping back 40 years - not much evidence of tourism which is incredible these days but the signs are there and no doubt it will change over the next few years. We loved staying in your house especially sitting on the terrace where we ate all our meals bar one when it rained. Dave and Anne May 2006
" Just a note to say how much we enjoyed staying in yoru house in Bosa.My teenage daughter and her friend loved the freedom to walk down into town on theri own and even got chatting to some local teenagers. The views from your balcony are fabulous. The scenery in Sardinia is quite spectacular. " Sue and Ian Kelsall April 07
Thank you, what a wonderful house and place. We had a brilliant holiday and would love to return as soon as possible! We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the sunshine and found many gorgeous restaurants in Bosa. Overall it was a really relaxing holiday and we could have easily stayed much longer. Elisa was very helpful and welcoming. Helen Noble July 2007
We had a wonderful stay in your house! It's so helpful to have bits and pieces already there .We loved Bosa and the people were really friendly and helpful especially when I persuaded David to drive down your street on what seemed the busiest day for traffic! The beaches are as good as they say in the adverts. Food is just divine. We'll go again, we just need to decide when. Margaret and David June 06
We had a lovely holiday thank you. Sardinia is beautiful and we thought the wild flowers everywhere looked stunning. The beach at Bosa as you know is beautiful. Our favourite restaurant was Lido Chelo fantastic beef dish with balsamic vinegar! Thanks to Elisa for meeting us on the outskirts of Bosa to guide us in......it did take a couple of days to fully get our bearings! We would be happy to recommend both apartments Best wishes, Kim and Mike April 06
