"Excellent place to stay"
We booked this cottage for an extended weekend (3 nights) in the month of July for my wife and in-laws. We were very impressed with the cottage and would gladly recommend it to anyone else. In brief, the positives were:
- Clean and well-maintained, especially compared to other holiday parks that we have been to in the past
- Good facilities with all the household utilities as expected
- The owner, Tim, responded to our emails very promptly and though we didn't meet him personally, he seems like a lovely person
- A nice human touch to the cottage in terms of providing interesting books, CDs and DVDs
- Cottage isn't on the lake itself which is actually good since otherwise numerous insects get into teh cottage as we oberved for the other ones
The points of improvement are:
- No address provided on holiday lettings; we thought we'll just google the holiday village but the site says "South Lakes Lesiure Holiday Village" whereas the official name is "South Lakeland Leisure Holiday Village" which can be a bit confusing to the uninitiated
- There isn't any grocery store inside the holiday village but Tesco or Truckhaven isn't too far (about 5 minute drive)
One thing worth pointing out is that this is not an ideal location to explore Lake District. We had booked with that view in mind but it's a good 30-40 minute ride from Windermere and the other lakes are even farther. It would have been good to book something closer to the lake.
