The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
For those that love to Ski, the resort at nearby Borovets offers a good range of slopes from beginner to advanced. Facilities include swimming pool, fitness centre & sauna, health club and various sporting activities. It has a great atmosphere and excellent après-ski night-life with the many bars, clubs, pubs and restaurants. A real bonus is that other ski runs at nearby Malyovitsa and Moussala are also very close to Ski Chalet Picabo, offering more ski runs to enjoy.
As well as skiing nearby, there are scores of scenic walking routes, by experienced guides. There are also organised trips that lead to picturesque spots in the Rila Mountain like Seven Rila Lakes, peak Malyovitsa and peak Moussala to mention a few. A photo Safari and a visit to the Bulgarian kings' residence of Bistritsa are also regularly organized. Various trips to different tourist attractions throughout Bulgaria are also on offer.
With flights to Sofia, lift passes and ski equipment hire all being inexpensive, Borovets is the perfect place to Ski.
Borovets / Madjare area
The Rila National Park will be of particular interest to nature lovers and those that love the outdoor life and is a perfect destination for mountain hikers, mountaineers offering many outdoor activities with mountain treks and horse riding, extreme sports, and mountain biking. The entire area is renowned for its eco environment and stunning natural beauty. There are wonderful lakes and many cultural and historical places of interest to visit ensuring there is plenty of interest for the whole family. In the summer it is just as appealing. Various excursions are available in both the summer and winter.
There is also a golf course in the area.

From Sofia airport the transfer time is only approximately 50 minutes.
A full information pack will be sent out when bookings are confirmed. This has full detailed instructions on how to drive to the Chalet from Sofia airport with photographs of key landmarks to help make sure you take the correct turnings.
I am able to provide a list of Bulgarian car/vehicle hire web sites should you wish to hire your own transport. Alternatively, I can arrange airport transfers and additional transport requirements on request as well as daily transport to and from the nearby slopes at Borovets.

The newly built chalet is situated in the picturesque village of Madjare in the highest mountain on the Balkan peninsula and just 7 miles away from the slopes of Bulgaria's International ski resort Borovets, offering a great variety of ski runs, the longest of which is 5800m long.
Large lounge/dining room with attractive log burning fire with glass door for extra safety. In the lounge area there is a 21" flat screen colour TV. There is a three-seater sofa that combines to make a sofa bed to sleep an additional 2 persons, two arm chairs (both with storage under the seat) and two foot rests also with storage.
The dining table is extendible from 4 to 6 persons. Six dining chairs are provided. There is a large patio window/doors to the garden patio and BBQ.
There is also a stereo CD/Cassette/Radio.
Natural pine wooden floors make up this super room.
The fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher, washing machine and frost-free fridge/freezer is located just off the dining area. All modern conveniences such as a new modern cooker and microwave have been provided. All other essential kitchen utensils and cutlery are also provided. Breakfast bar and stools adjacent to the kitchen area.
3 double bedrooms comprising of, master bedroom with double bed and dual aspect balconies with spectacular views, two further double bedrooms both with 2 single beds in each and access to a balcony. The master bedroom shares a balcony with both of the other bedrooms, making this an ideal room for parents. There is a small table and chairs on the larger balcony.
Made to measure and specifically designed bedroom furniture ensure plenty of storage. Each bedroom has a portable colour flat screen TV with remote control. Pine wooden flooring and heating make up these rooms.
A spacious bathroom with full size bath, shower over and toilet. Heated towel rail. A further separate toilet is available on the first floor.
Downstairs there is a shower room with shower screen, hand basin and further toilet.
The accommodation is fully centrally heated.
Extra bed linen is provided. Towels are also provided.
I can also arrange airport pick up and return, and inexpensive ski packages to include lift passes, lessons, and all required equipment. Daily lift to and from slopes also available at low cost by arrangement.
Sofia airport is only approx 43 miles so transfer is only about 1 hour.

I have recently installed a new satellite TV system which has access to hundreds of channels across Europe so there should be something for everyone.
Summer 2008 the Chalet has been updated with a DVD player in the lounge and one in each bedroom. I have also provided over 60 hours of mixed English content DVD's for my customers to enjoy.

Outside: Patio and garden. The garden is shared with one other Chalet on a shared plot but has its own clearly defined area.
Allocated parking for one car. Further parking available outside on the road.
There is a stunning meandering river within a one-minute walk of the chalet, which can be seen from the balconies. There are also superb views of the valley.
There are local restaurants and bars in the village and nearby and plenty of night-life in the nearby Borovets ski resort and the nearest town of Samokov. There are also local shops and petrol available in the village.

Deposit payable of 30% when booking. Balance payable 3 months before travel unless travel date less than 3 months.
Cancellation Policy:
Deposit non refundable. Provisional bookings will be confirmed once the deposit has been received.
Damages Policy:
There is a £200 returnable deposit to cover any damages, which should be paid when the holiday balance is paid. This sum will be returned within 14 days of your return if there is no damage reported.
