The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
Modern Borovets is one of the largest and increasingly popular winter resorts in the Balkan region. It is situated on scenic northern slopes of the Mousala Ridge in the east of the panoramic Rila Mountains. The resort lies huddled in thick pine forests some 1390 meters above sea level. The area has a long history - attracting people to ski here since as early as 1896 - taking advantage of the many pistes which rise to a staggering 2,600m! The resort is a perfect place to enjoy excellent facilities off pist as well as on the snow. Many restaurants are clustered around the well appointed and superbly equipped major hotels, making dining a real pleasure with an endless array of contemporary and traditional eating places available. Borovets is the perfect place to relax and provides many other recreational opportunities throughout the year. The climate is considered to be healthy, enjoying beautifully clean air, mild winter temperatures and of course mountains of snow! Usually the slopes at Borovets are covered in snow from mid December through to April.

The average temperature during the coldest month January is 4.8ºC In summer the temeratures get to around 19ºC. Usually the slopes of Borovets have snow cover from mid December till April. The air in Borovets is clear, free of any pollutants. Borovets is also easy accessible- 12 kilometers long first class road connects it with Samokov; Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) is just 72 kilometers away. There is a regular bus transport as for Samokov every 30 minutes. The real charm of Borovets can be felt during the winter. It is then when the harmony with the nature is complete. The excellent equipment for ski sports attracts thousands of mountain lovers from Bulgaria and from foreign countries. They can use the 45 kilometers various in difficulty and length ski pistes grouped in three regions: Sitnqkovo – Martinovi Baraki – pistes; Markudjik- 4 pistes and Qstrebec- 3 pistes. The pistes on Qstrebets are the best- and all of the competitions in the resort are taking place there! The resort is a regular host of various winter sports competitions. Most of the main hotels are within 500m of each other, as well as the gondala, and a lot of the nursery slopes. This makes it very easy for families with smaller children; in fact Borovets is the ideal resort for families. It has an excellent nightlife, at a price that won't break the bank. Restaurants in Borovets, range from authentic local, to exotic foreign, and just about everything in between. If you want to eat a quick snack, there are plenty of little stalls that sell pancakes, kebabs etc. Borovets has a cosy "village" feel to it. A five minute walk will get you from one side of the village to the other. The local bar and restaurant owners are very warm and welcoming. An excellent ski resort, perfect for families there really is something for everyone.

Guestbook for Semiramida Gardens
The organisation with Balkan PMS and Hunters was great, I cannot fault their service one bit! Our lessons were really good as there were only the three of us in our lesson, and the instructor was very patient!! The free shuttle bus every morning from the apartment was great, and saved us a lot of money, and the guys in the ski depot and the instructors were all really good fun!
You have a really lovely apartment, in a beautiful area, I am really pleased we chose to stay there!
we all had a fantastic week, and can't wait to go again!
