It has 2 WC’s, kitchenette and lounge area with a timber deck area for taking in the scenery. Flights to Sofia are inexpensive as are the lift passes and ski equipment hire. It’s also ideal for Spring and Summer holidays, with stunning mountain treks and horse riding.

The Sofia/Rila Mountains region

Borovets is the oldest international and most popular mountain resort in Bulgaria. It is located at 1350 above the sea level (with highest pistes at 2600 m), on the Northern slopes of Rila mountain among age-old pine woods, at the foot of Mousala peak (2925 m) the highest one on the Balkan peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible, being at a distance of only 70 km from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) and 126 km from Plovdiv.
Established at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian kings, BOROVETS gradually developed into a modern ski resort of high class and luxury hotels, haute-cuisine restaurants and the varied leisure-time entertainment opportunities besides an excellent network of ski runs and lifts along the slopes of the Rila Mountain.

The Borovets area

As well as skiing BOROVETS offers scores of scenic walking routes, by experienced guides. The organised trips lead to picturesque spots in the Rila Mountain like Seven Rila Lakes, peak Malyovitsa, peak Moussala, etc. A photo Safari and a visit to the Bulgarian kings' residence of Bistritsa are also regularly organized. Various trips to different tourist attractions throughout Bulgaria are offered as well.

BOROVETS also offers a large choice of night-life opportunities with its many night clubs, bars and discos. The ski carnivals are real fiestas for the guests of the resort, and the ski evenings when the ski certificates are awarded are remembered for a long time.

Skiing:
There are available ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs. Pistes are bashed and maintained to the high standard. The ski runs of Borovets are located in three different regions. Cross-country and biathlon tracks are located 2 km away from the resort together with the cross-country tuition tracks. Borovets ski centre is serviced by well organised lift system, inclusive Gondola lift. 8 snow cannons for artificial snow are installed to guarantee the snow cover if needed. The Borovets ski school has been known as one of the best in Bulgaria. There are more than 200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and some of them are former professional skiers.

Apres Ski:
Borovets is full of bars, cafes, night clubs, discos. The night life is excellent at this resort (Buzz bar, Mamacitas, Bonkers disco, etc). This resort is known as the most interesting ski centre regarding party time. Its been catering for foreign tourists for many years now, the staff are known to be friendly and professional. Most of the places work till the early morning, and offer good prices and special 'happy hour' discounts Music played is mostly international dance music. Very often special shows are presented at the clubs. There are available restaurants and taverns with Bulgarian national folk music and 'horo' dancing, which some people find very interesting.

We would certainly recommend the world famous Rila Monastery or the busy city of Sofia for sightseeing or shopping

“A Most enjoyable stay” We had a great time and thouroughly enjoyed are stay in Borovets in Chalet Tomba. Plenty of good local places to eat which was good because we couldnt find much in the Super Markets. Chalet Tomba was perfect in size for my family of 5 to stay comfortably in.Good position for getting to the Gondalas and nightlife. Would have prefered much softer beds as after a day on the slopes they were too hard.

Just to let you know that we all had a great time in Borovets last week and really didn't want to leave! Chris and Serma at Hunters treated us like part of the family, which was fantastic, and even cooked us a traditional Bulgarian feast on our final night. I know that you were also interested in getting some feedback from us, so here are the comments I've received from the group so far. I haven't heard back from everyone yet so will pass on any further comments I get tomorrow: Both chalets were really comfortable and well equipped We were picked up promptly for both transfers to and from the airport Stefan was always very accommodating if we had any problems The food at Hunters was always really good- especially the Turkish bread Your recommendations for places to eat were really helpful- we particularly liked Hrima The private snowboarding instructor called Sachin was excellent as was Boyan, the skiing instructor. As I said at the outset we all had a great time and are looking forward to planning our next skiing trip. Thanks again for all your help.
