The Sofia/Rila Mountains region

Borovets is of course best known for the international family friendly ski and snowboard resort.
It's a lively andpicturesque village style resort bustling with restaurants,bars and shops.New runs , facilities and gondolas have been added as part of the 'Super Borovets' project destined to land the resort with the 2014 winter Olympics. It's a great place to go in the summer too as the gondolas and ski lifts take you to the very peak of the mountain tops. You will not experience better views than these anywhere else in Europe.

Borovets area

Borovets is the biggest mountain resort in Bulgaria. It’s situated at 1350 meters altitude, at the foot of the summit called Musala – 2925 m above sea level. It’s located 11 km away from Samokov, 75 km away from Sofia and 125 km away from Plovdiv.
The resort offers favorable climatic conditions for relaxation all the year round. Summer is cool, winter is open. The healthy atmosphere makes the resort an attractive place for relaxation. It offers a perfect opportunity for amateur and professional winter sport and therefore the mountain resort has been а venue twice for the world ski championship. The track for biathlon is among the best rated in the world. The lift has the capacity to serve up to 11, 200 tourists per hour, and makes all tracks accessible to the tourists. The length of the tracks is 60 km, with different level of difficulties. The thickness of the snow is at an averige of 1.2 m and it’s with adequate maintenance. There are 10 centres were tourists can rent ski, sledge, ski equipment, and drawers for safekeeping. THE OWNER OF THE APARTMENT RUNS HIS OWN SKI SCHOOL AND HIS OWN TRANSFER COMPANY SO DISSCOUNTS ON THE SKI PACKS AND TRANSFERS CAN BE DONE.

The resort is fully equipped with emergency mechanism including a helicopter.

Among the pleasant experience witnessed by tourist are the Bulgarian folklore-nights, with possible taste of the Bulgarian cuisine and Bulgarian wines.
Borovets is full of bars, cafes, night clubs, and discos. The night life is excellent at this resort (Buzz bar, Mamacitas, Bonkers disco, etc). Sertainly will recommend HUNTERS restauran /the best food in the resort/This resort is known as the most interesting ski centre regarding party time. Been catering for foreign tourists for many years now, the staffs are known to be friendly and professional. Most of the places work till the early morning, and offer good prices and special 'happy hour' discounts.
Music played is mostly international dance music. Very often special shows are presented at the clubs. There are available restaurants and taverns with Bulgarian national folk music and 'horo' dancing, which some people find very interesting.

How to get there

Borovets is approximately a 1 hour drive e from Sofia, Bulgaria’s capital city, with inexpensive transfers that are easily arranged.
There are direct flights to Sofia from London and Manchester in the UK which take about 3 hours.
