Home description

Our two-bedroom apartment , the largest in the Flora residential complex, is located in the centre of the Borovets ski resort looking out onto a bird-filled pine forest. The apartment is just 50 metres away from the gondola station and 30 metres away from the beginners’ slopes. The apartment is equipped with self-catering facilities in a modern holiday complex offering a wide range of services to guests, with easy access to nearby local restaurants, bars and shops.

Facilities at the Flora apartments include a heated indoor swimming pool, health club, Jacuzzi, solarium, steam room, Irish pub and restaurant, money exchange, shop, ski locker room, information desk and secure outdoor parking lot. Guests in the Flora complex also have access to the facilities of the adjoining Flora Hotel. An additional charge is payable for the use of these facilities.

The Sofia/Rila Mountains region

Borovets is the oldest international and most conveniently located mountain resort to the capital city, Sofia. It is located at 1350m above sea level with the highest pistes at 2600 m on the northern-facing slopes of the Rila mountains. It is set among pine forests, at the foot of Mussala peak (2925 m), the highest on the Balkan Peninsula.

There are 45 km of pistes varying in difficulty and length for skiing and snowboarding. There are ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs. Several floodlit pistes also allow late night fun on the snow. The resort is best suited to beginner or intermediate level skiers, and there is a range of trails above the tree line and through the pine forests.
Snow conditions are among the best in Eastern Europe and the season usually lasts from mid December to April. There are also snow-making machines. The Borovets ski school has more than 200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and some of them are former professional skiers. Instructors are friendly and teach to a good standard.

Renting equipment is cheap and there are many ski hire depots offering competitive prices. The Albena ski depot in the Flora complex may be able to assist you with ski hire and has the advantage of being located in the building itself. Another option is to rent through our agent in Borovets, Stefan Dokouzov, who organises ski packages (ski rental, lift pass and instruction) at a discount rate. Buying quality ski equipment is often good value, particularly towards the end of the ski season.

Borovets also offers a vibrant apres ski and night-life scene with its many bars, cafes, night clubs and discos that stay open into the early morning. A night out is extremely good value for money especially with special 'happy hour' discounts or out of season deals and a 3 course meal that can be enjoyed for under £15.

Slightly further afield is the Rila Monastery (about 90 minutes), Bulgaria’s largest and most famous monastery, founded in 927 AD and hidden high in the Rila mountains.

How to get there

Borovets is situated 70km from the country's capital Sofia and can be reached in approximately 1 hour 15 minutes by taxi. Taxis are readily available and cost between £25 and £30 each way.

The apartment is conveniently situated on the ground floor. Facilities include satellite TV, DVD player, electric cooker, fridge, coffee/tea maker, toaster, iron and ironing board. The apartment has central and under-floor heating.

There are two large double bedrooms each with a double bed. In the living room a sofa bed can accommodate two further guests. Alternatively fold up single beds or a cot can be provided on request. Each bedroom has ample wardrobe space for storing clothing. Bedding and towels are included in the price of rental. A daily cleaning service is provided and laundry is changed at the end of each weekly rental.

The apartment is laid out with a central corridor leading to a lounge and kitchen area. The lounge has a settee/sofa bed and two armchairs. The apartment can accommodate 4-6 persons very comfortably. The modern bathroom with bath and shower and pedestal toilet serves both double bedrooms. The bathroom also has a heated towel rail.

Ski equipment can be hired and stored in the Flora ski locker room for guests.

A local medical clinic with basic emergency and first aid facilities is located 20 meters from the apartment at the foot of the beginners’ slope.

Our local English-speaking representative is available to assist guests with arranging transport, ski lessons and ski packages.

Guests staying at the apartment will be met on arrival with a welcome drink served with Bulgarian hospitality at one of our favourite local restaurants.

Conditions

No pets and smoking is not permitted in the apartment.

We recommend that personal travel insurance is taken out by our guests.

No large parties of single males. Sorry!
