Borovets Snow Palace is that rare place in life, a haven of warmth and comfort that is exceptionally affordable. It is in Beli Iskur, the most sought after location, combining all the action and vibrancy of Borovets with some of Europe’s most dramatic and tranquil national park

Our personal mission is to make this the best holiday you could dream of, in terms of warmth, gorgeous accommodation, the highest quality food, wine and beer included, utter ease with transportation and children and all ski arrangements. We aim do it at no higher cost than our competitors who are offering very standard accommodation and food, so that you can go home knowing you've had a really good time, and had a real bargain.

The ski chalet idea was to create the atmosphere of an English country house party but in the snowy mountains in the company of like minded people. The chalet can be booked by your group of family or friends for a holiday of a lifetime or individually, or as a small group and join other guests in the chalet. For many people it is the chance to make new friends over the week that is a great part of the experience; unlike in a hotel when you tend to make friends in the last couple of days when it is too late. It is the cost effective and child friendly option too.....children can be put to bed while you are able to relax over dinner. There are no extortionate resort meal prices, ridiculous drinks bills, or added costs which can easily double a holiday budget. Everything is a known

The Sofia/Rila Mountains region

Bulgaria is often referred to as Europe’s best kept secret. It is the vast beauty and space that takes everyone’s breath away. The area boasts some of the most spectacular mountain views in Euroupe


Borovets is based around Mt Mussla which is the highest mountain in the Balkan Peninsula at 2,925m. The average height of the peaks are 2,700m

The mountains lie in the Rila National Park which is protected by the UN. It is Bulgaria’s largest national park containing 81,000hectares, two thirds of which are forested, and which has over 100 peaks along with countless spectacular rivers, gorges, waterfalls and lakes.

The national parks authority have marked many trails, built bridges across the rivers and provided information boards.They have also built mountain huts for hikers to shelter in for the night which are manned winter and summer

We are great friends with the top local mountain guide in the area who is the sole map maker for the mountain ranges in Bulgaria and knows the mountains like no one else.
With this insider knowledge we are able to offer our most demanding guests all that they can need

Living here permanently ourselves, we spend several hours in the mountains every week, are very knowledgeable about the local area and can really help you to make the most of your holiday

With such a low population, Bulgaria is one of the few places left on earth where one can really find peace and quiet in amongst such endless beauty

The area is of special interest to botanists with a huge variety of fauna and flora including many rare species

Also noteworthy in the area is the Rila Monastery which is the most holy place in the country. Built in 927ad it was set in a deep forested gorge with jagged mountain peaks rising around it to protect it from the then Turkish invasion.

Just 20 minutes drive from Borovets is Bulgarians largest lake, Lake Iskar. Normally totally calm, reflecting the blue skies and the winter snow it is simply magnificent
It offers wake boarding ,boating ,fishing and lake side restaurants with fabulous views

People come from all over the world to visit the 7 Lakes in the summer. These lie at the top of the surrounding peaks. At least once a year, we go off for the day in a 4WD with a very experienced guide , deep through the mountain paths to the 7 lakes. They are so staggering that the national parks authority maintain low key walks around the lake so they are accessible for everybody. This is the summer day out that everybody ...of all ages... enjoys the most ...more then water skiing, shopping, spas, horse riding, and all the other walks. There is just something so spectacular, so right back to the wild about it all

The snow usually covers the whole area from the end of November until April. When you look up to the peaks against the blue summer skies, they are still covered in snow right up to the middle of summer, really beautiful.

After the snowy winters come the endless hot summer days when everyone barbecues by the rivers which run all over the national park, and makes the most of the summer activities, walks, and open air swimming pools

It’s a very healthily climate for anyone with respiratory problems, a dry cold with mostly blue skies little wind. It often feels far colder in England at 0 degrees with its wet and wind than it does here at minus 20

Sofia, packed with world class shops, malls, bars and restaurants is on our doorstep...just 40 minutes away. The Opera House in Sofia is second to none but in spite of its class, a front row seat is just 10 GBP

Also close by is the historic city of Plovdiv with the amazing amphitheatre, churches etc. It is also alive with cheap but very trendy restaurants and bars

In all there are 18 ski runs covering a distance of 40km. All runs are marked and beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers are all catered for. Snowboarding is also very popular here

The altitude combined with the cold dry air and piercing blue skies create perfect conditions for fabulously light power snow.

Borovets is internationally known for its reliable ski conditions and for being so suitable for all levels of skiers. It hosted the World Cup downhill ski championships

It is a bustling summer and winter resort offering all of the trendy bars, clubs, shops and family restaurants one would expect from an exciting European resort

It is a very child friendly resort, a great place for children to learn to ski, and there is plenty for the children to do apart from ski...horse riding, tenpin bowling, swimming pools etc. However, when the lights go out it takes its après ski nightlife very seriously. Plenty of fun to be had both within the resort and in Samokov, the large town 5 minutes down the road. Best of all this is a peaceful part of the world with kind welcoming people and hassle free night life

If you fancy a break from skiing during the day there are swimming pools, snowmobiling, tenpin bowling, horse trekking, etc, all on hand

BELI ISKUR

Beli Iskur is the most sought after village at the resort. It combines the proximity to the slopes with the tranquility of the mountains and breathtaking scenery

It is where the elite from Sofia roll up to spend their weekends both in the summer and the winter

Within seconds of the house you will find phenomenal walks, rivers, and mountain bike trails. The local village shops and bars 5 minutes walk away offer all the essentials


In the winter there is nothing better than to snuggle up in front of the roaring log fire and gaze out at the snow covered mountains after a day on the slopes

In the summer, it is brilliant just to be out having fun in the mountains. There is just so much to do; walking, fishing, bird watching, cycling, horse trekking.....to all the more extreme stuff; paragliding, rock climbing, off road, caving, rafting, etc

There are a couple of smaller ski resorts on our doorstep too; Govedartsi and Malyovitsa, if you fancy a change. Malyovitsa has snow later than anywhere in the whole country
And finally...the answer to the question you’ve been waiting for.....yes, there are wolves and bears....but you’re very unlikely to meet one !!

All the rooms at Snow Palace are very light and airy.

All bedrooms in the main house are en suite and each has an additional single bed option. All bedrooms are beautifully designed, are warm and comfortable. There is daily maid service

The main level has a fully equipped kitchen, a wonderful dining area for long relaxed dinner parties and a large comfortable open lounge area with log fire. There is a television and DVD player, and plenty of movies to snuggle up to.

Leading off the lounge is a family double bedroom with extra double sofa bed. It has en suite with full size bath and separate wc.

There is also a separate ski storage area on this floor, and a washing machine

A wide staircase leads up to the top floor which has 3 beautifully designed double bedrooms, all en suite, each with the possibility of another small bed also

The top floor also boasts its own snug area, complete with double sofa bed, satellite TV, DVD, etc

The self contained apartment has 2 lovely bedrooms and a large discreet bathroom. In the heart of it there is a large open kitchen, warm dining area, and a most comfortable lounge which can sleep a further 2-4 people, a television and DVD player. There is also a games room with ski storage.

The whole house is newly cladded with alpine insulation so it is cool in the summer and very cosy in the winter

As you would expect, having put so much effort into the design, warmth and sheer comfort of the chalet we didn't stop there! A fine array of the very best of European cuisine is brought to you each day. The family have been in hospitality and catering for generations, and we have built up quite a reputation for our amazing meals !!

The day begins with a fabulous buffet breakfast to set you up for your day on the slopes. Tea and coffee and tasty snacks are supplied all day long. It is particularly nice to curl up in front of the roaring fire with a spot of afternoon tea when returning from the slopes

Then after a long hot bath or a visit to the spa, we serve a mouth watering 3 course evening meal by candlelight with wines and beers included ! Everybody comments on just how good the wine and beer is here too. We cater for all special dietary requirements

The Palace is fully central heated by electricity as well as by the log fire

Whilst this is the ultimate child friendly holiday, we also cater for those who want a completely child free existence for a week....just let us know !!

There are rivers, rare flora and fauna, birds and bears, swimming pools, spas, magnificent mountain walks, horse riding, jeep safaris, fabulous 4x4 days out, wakeboarding and power boating on the lake, fishing, cycling, paragliding, golf, tennis, indoor shooting, skiing, snowmobiling.

Living here ourselves, and knowing the best mountaineers, guides, horse riders, ski instructors, etc, as great personal friends we can make sure that you are well taken care of. We can point you in the direction of the amazing huge caves, the Rila monastery and many other hidden churches.

The skiing was great....but the food alone was worth the trip !!

More than we could ever have dreamed of for our summer holiday there....what a stunnning vast beautiful country Bulgarain is and up in those mountains there the views are just incredible .We will be back to walk those 7 lakes again !!

The chalet is stunning....that log fire gets you every time doesn't it.....don't really want to be anywhere else.... It was so easy with you as you organised everything for us...the whole package, from picking us up at the airport to organising the ski packages, and cooking the best food we've had in years !!! It all went so smoothly bacause you care....such a rare thing to find these days and it made for a very special holiday for us and especially the kids....thank you from all of us !!!!

I wish we had found you years ago....such great accommodation, superb food and great skiing.....but at half the price of the other resorts.
