The Flora residence apartments provide luxurious accomomodation where you can enjoy a winter holiday with the whole family while engrossed in the splendour of Bulgaria’s most famous ski resort. This brand new 3rd floor apartment in Borovets is situated just 50 meters from the main lift station and nursery slopes and offers some of the best skiing in Bulgaria. It can comfortably accommodate 4 people and has fantastic facilities with secure parking, restaurants and bars just 1 min walk away and an Indoor Swimming Pool, Jacuzzi and Fitness Centre available within the complex for a small supplement, . Spacious living room with balcony over looking the nursery slopes with sofa bed. The apartment is fitted with modern furniture and also has a balcony over looking the beautiful pine forests and village. The kitchen is off the living area and has all the essentials. The bathroom is off the living area, completely tiled and provides a shower over the bath. My agent will be available to meet you on arrival and is on hand during your stay in Borovets. The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
Borovets is the oldest international and most popular mountain resort in Bulgaria. It is located at 1350m with the highest pistes at 2600 m on the Northern slopes of Rila mountain. It is set among age-old pine woods, at the foot of Mousala peak (2925 m) the highest one on the Balkan peninsula. Borovets is easily accessible, being at a distance of only 70 km from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) and 126 km from Plovdiv. the Rila Mountain. Established at the end of the 19th century as a hunting place for the Bulgarian kings, Borovets gradually developed into a modern, friendly and charming ski resort of high class and luxury hotels, haute-cuisine restaurants and varied leisure-time entertainment opportunities besides the excellent network of ski runs and lifts. The resort is a regular host of various winter sports competitions and has twice hosted World Cup competitions in Alpine skiing.Snow conditions are among the best in Eastern Europe and the season usually lasts from Mid December to April. The Rila mountains are registered in the UN list of representative protected areas and is Bulgaria's largest national park - 81,000 hectares, two thirds of which is forested. The park contains over 100 peaks, with deep and dramatic river gorges, lakes and waterfalls. The national parks authority have marked many trails and built bridges and information boards and there are mountain chalets for hikers to shelter for the night. The area is of special interest to botanists, with a large variety of flora, including some rare species.
Borovets area
There are 45 km of pistes varying in difficulty and length for skiing and snowboarding. There are ski runs for beginners, intermediates and advanced skiers, designed with international markings and multilingual signs. Several floodlit pistes also allow late night fun on the snow. The Borovets ski school has more than 200 ski instructors fluent in foreign languages and some of them are former professional skiers The Flora complex is ideally situated in the centre of Borovets. You can either ski down to the gondola from behind the ski room or you can walk on the flat for about 2 minutes across to the Rila ski area. You can ski back to within about 50m of the rear of the apartments. Alternatively you can pick up one of the many horse drawn carriages and arrive in style! Beginners will get the best possible start with a highly rated local ski school and for intermediates there is a good variety of runs as well as some interesting diversions for experts. The lift system is being improved year on year in preparation for the Super Borovets Project. Nightlife in the resort centres on the many restaurants, bars and discos at bargain prices. A holiday in Borovets is extremely good value for money. Activities for non-skiers: Skidoo Safari, Bowling alley (Hotel Samokov), Swimming pool, sauna, massage and fitness centre, Horse drawn sleigh rides, cleared winter walks. The resort offers flights by helicopter above the Borovets area, so that you can view & enjoy the beautiful nature of the Rila mountain. Slightly further afield is the Rila Monastery (about 90 minutes), Bulgaria’s largest and most famous monastery, founded in 927 AD and hidden high in the Rila mountains. Within 20 to30 minutes’ drive there is the highly regarded Ihtiman golf course, the nearby towns of Kostenets and Samokov, with facilities for shopping and eating out, a private airfield offering light aircraft flights over the area for about £40, and boating facilities on the very beautiful and impressive Lake Iskar. The lively, local town of Samokov is only 6 km away on a straight road. The town has a large, modern supermarket, selling all the food and household products that you would need. There is an excellent fresh fruit and vegetable market and there is a choice of restaurants in the town centre, banks with cash points and a post office.A return bus operates from Borovets with fares charged at approx 35p, alternatively a taxi will cost approx £3. The town is ideal for shopping and grabbing a bargain. In the Summer there are also many activites as Borovets is very much an all-year-round resort, and once the snow melts, visitors can indulge themselves in some fantastic activities. In summer, the surrounding pine forests make an excellent centre for mountain walking and hiking, mountain biking and horse riding. The ski lifts take you to the very peak of the mountain tops for some of the best views in Europe. • Boating facilities/water sports available on the very beautiful and impressive Lake Iskar • Mount Moussala, Malyovitsa and the seven Rila lakes provide wonderful walks with truly magnificent views • Mountain biking and horse riding are available within the resort • Fishing in the many local rivers and lakes • Relax with the spa facilities offered within the Flora complex
How to get there
You can either fly to Sofia or Plovdiv airports and Borovets is approx 70 km from Sofia. It is about an 1 hour and 15 min's transfer from Sofia or an hour and a half from Plovdiv. Transfers can be arranged through the tour operator arranging your flights, through me or taxis are readily available and cost between £25 - £30 each way. Local buses also run regularly from the airport to the resort.
Winter Flights through British Airways, Bulgaria Air or Balkan Airways. In the summer wizzair also fly to Sofia from Luton, Stansted and several provincial airports.
