The Borovets resort complex is the oldest and largest Bulgarian mountain resort. It is on the northern slopes of the Rila mountain, in the foothills of the tallest peak on the Balkan Peninsula Moussala 2925 m. The distance between Sofia and Borovets is 65 km, a one-hour drive along a picturesque canyon above the river Iskar. Downtown Borovets is 1340 m above sea level, and the highest ski-tracks and facilities are at 2300 m.

Bookings
I. 25% deposit within 10 days of verbal/email confirmation
II. The balance of the price of the rental is due at least 56 days before rental date
III. For last minute reservations made 56 days or less before arrival date, full payment is due immediately.
Cancellations
I. Received 56 days or more before arrival date will incur a cancellation charge of 25% of the rental;
II. Received between 56 days and 28 days before arrival date will incur a cancellation charge of 50% of the rental;
III. Received within 28 days of the arrival date will incur a cancellation charge of 100% of the rental;
There is a refundable security deposit of £150, held against loss or damage. This is to be paid at the same time as the full balance, and will be refunded after your holiday within 2 weeks after departure
The Sofia/Rila Mountains region
Set amidst the majestic pine forest-clad Rila Mountains, at the foot of Moussala Peak, the tallest peak on the Balkan Peninsula standing at 2925m. This makes it an attractive place for snow activities in the winter and hiking, mountain bike or horse riding in the summer.
The Rila Monastery is also nearby which is Bulgaria's largest and most famous Monastery and is also a Unesco World Heritage site.
If you fancy water activities such as water skiing, wakeboarding or boat hire, why not pop along with Bulgaria's largest lake, Lake Iskar which is just a short drive.
Then there's Sofia, Bulgaria's capital and largest city. Just an hour away and you'll be entering a cosmopolitan city filled with sites from domed churches, galleries, museums to communist landmarks and beautiful parks. To top it all off, visit the stunning St. Alexander Nevski Cathedral and Memorial Church.
The Borovets area
The Borovets resort complex is the oldest and most developed mountain resort in Bulgaria, dating back to the 19th century when was only known to an exclusive few. Once a hunting ground for Bulgarian Kings, Borovets is now internationally renowned, with visitors to Bulgaria from the UK doubling every year since 2002 and a staggering 1.2 million British tourists are expected to choose Bulgaria as their destination for a genuinely awe-inspiring summer or winter holiday.
Borovets is a resort of alpine type and provides excellent opportunities for a whole range of winter sports. The resort has twice hosted World Cup Alpine skiing rounds. It is also famous for its world-class biathlon track.
Ski runs of various difficulty provide opportunities for the full range of skill levels along the 45km of slopes. The slopes and runs are maintained in perfect condition with the help of snow cannons and piste bashers and are designed with international markings and multilingual signs. There's great night skiing under lights and great apres ski atmosphere.
The resort provides a ski school with highly trained English speaking instructors, as well as state of the art ski and snowboard equipment rentals.
To experience the mountain magic from a totally different perspective, you can hire a snow mobile and and have great scenic fun!
In the summer Borovets is just as marvellous as it is in the winter. It offers everything a perfect vacation takes: clean and fresh air, serene centuries-old pine forests, green meadows sprinkled with fragrant flowers and herbs, blue lakes and majestic snow-capped peaks. For nature-lovers the resort is a favourite vacation spot and starting point of many hiking routs in the Rila Mountains. Mountain biking and excellent fishing is also popular amongst the locals.
Natural Spa Facilities
In the villages of Belchin Banya and Dolna Banya you will find tranquility and also enjoy the healing quality of the mineral springs, which can be found here! They both are just 15-20 km from Borovets.
Outdoor Pools
If you wish to experience true Bulgaria and visit in the summer, one of the local attractions is the outdoor pool in the village of Belchin Bani, which is about 20km away from Borovets. The pool is filled from the mineral springs which are famous for their healing qualities. Being a large outdoor complex, there is lots to do here.
Horse-Riding
Horse riding is available in many places around Borovets, all of them offering stunning rides through mountain forests and catering for all abilities.
Fishing
There is a choice of fishing options around Borovets. You can take your pick from the more traditional form of fishing (by taking your chances in the Iskar Dam) or alternatively, visit the local fish farm which is located between Samokov to Borovets, where you are guaranteed a catch! You will have to pay for it afterwards but at least your supper will be sorted for the night!
Golf
Golf fanatics can enjoy the golf course near the town of Dolna Banya 'Ibar' - a small town about 50 km from Borovets. There you will also find a swimming pool, football field, tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts.
Hiking
Bulgaria boasts some of the best mountain scenery in Europe, with many unspoiled areas in the Borovets Rila Mountain range. If you are willing (and able!) you can also try to climb the Musala Peak, which is the highest peak on the Balkans. You will not need to worry about a guide as there is an easy-to-follow tourist route. Only 20 km from Borovets is yet another peak to 'conquer' - the Malyovitsa peak, where you can also enjoy rock climbing.
Mountain Biking
If you are keen on biking we can also offer you a mountain biking trip. Numerous places offer mountain bikes for rent and there are several trails up the mountain.
Lake Iskar
This is yet another local destination where you will be able to enjoy the beauty and breathtaking tranquillity of the mountains in the summer. Lake Iskar is just a few minutes drive from Borovets and offers summer water-sports, fishing, mountain sun-bathing and swimming.
Para-gliding
Another sport to try is paragliding in the mountains near the Seven Rila Lakes where you will be spoilt with the magnificent views.
The Seven Lakes
We can arrange for you to take a safari in the lakes. These are situated high in the Rila Mountain and not many places can offer you such astonishing beauty and serenity. This is something you definitely shouldn’t miss during your stay in Bulgaria!
Rila Monastery
The Rila Monastery is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bulgaria. It is situated in the Rila Mountain range, approximately 70 km away from Borovets. Founded in the 10th century it is regarded as one of the most important sites in Bulgarian Heritage. On-site, there is also a museum and library for visitors. The whole experience will leave you in awe, for there you will be able to perceive the spirit of the Monastery and see the majesty of this unearthly place!
Village Life
You can also visit the neighbouring villages such as Beli Iskar, Mala Tsarkva and Govedartsi. These villages have kept their Bulgarian traditions, with churches, small restaurants and cafés and peace and calmness where you can appreciate the traditional Bulgarian spirit.
