"Peace and comfort in the Tuscan countryside"

Villa Rabatta is a lovely modern house. It wasn't high summer when we stayed there, but we were impressed by how cool the house stayed. We were met with a lovely welcome basket of groceries, fruit, milk, etc.

Downstairs is one big open-plan area, with sliding doors out to the garden, a really well-equipped kitchen and a television/sitting room area. Each of the two bedrooms upstairs has its own bathroom (plus there's one downstairs). It's clearly someone's family holiday home - the owner's possessions are in the cupboards - but there's plenty of space to put your own things. One thing - I wouldn't recommend this house for active babies or toddlers, as the stairs are stone and open - I can't see how you'd fit a baby gate.

It's near enough to Florence (c25km) for an easy day trip, but we spent time in smaller places. The local town isn't especially picturesque but it has 2 decent supermarkets, a weekly market and at least one decent restaurant (La Griglia).

But the house itself is so nice that we spent quite a lot of time just lounging around - there's a garden, a (shared) pool which is fenced off, and ultra-comfortable outside table and chairs. In the dusk, you can watch the bats flying round the garden, which became part of our evening ritual - wonderful to see them so close up.

The house comes equipped with bikes for the more active and there is a really nice cycle and footpath that runs behind the property that will take you into Borgo. Considering that we were staying within a small community with houses and flats around us, it was remarkably peaceful - despite the neighbouring dogs and children.

"Fantastic holiday! wonderful location, fabulous food and shopping"

This property is in a wonderful location where you can relax and enjoy the most amazing views across the coutryside. Inside the villa the rooms are spacious and bright (air conditioned) and the house really has every comfort you could need. The kitchen is fully equipped and it was easy to set up for supper on the patio or sample the local restaurants nearby. Outside there is plently of space and the children loved the garden and pool area, very safe and private. We loved cycling into the local town and sampling ice-creams, our girls tried many different ice-cream flavours before playing in the park as the sun went down. One of my favourite days was taking the train to Florence, which was easy, we enjoyed the sight seeing and shopping in the leather market. A wonderful holiday can't wait to go again!
