Our peaceful, lakeside holiday chalet lies in the heart of the Médoc, facing Lake Hourtin and surrounded by pine forests. Ideal setting for family and activity holidays or just relaxing our home is part of Les Maisons du Lac- recently built (06) eco-chalets sited around a private stretch of water in a tranquil, traffic free location with a cycle path outside the garden gate.
Furnished to a high standard, bright and welcoming our holiday home comfortably sleeps 6 with two shower rooms. A few minutes walk takes you to Hourtin Port with a marina and sandy lake beach- plenty of space to sunbathe or try water sports. Only 10kms to Atlantic Silver Coast beaches- miles of sand and surf or take a short drive to visit historic chateaux and sample world famous Bordeaux wines. Less than an hour to the lovely city of Bordeaux.
In the evening enjoy a glass of wine on the terrace as the sun dips below the lake.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
The Gironde – towards the estuary world famous Médoc vineyards and beautiful Chateaux – Margaux, Lafitte and many more offer wine tastings and history. By contrast drive west from our holiday home to miles of Atlantic beaches – the Côte d’Argent – surfing at Hourtin Plage (10 minutes drive), Carcans Plage and Lacanau. Further south visit the great Dune of Pyla and beautiful Arcachon Bay.
One hour to historic Bordeaux- an easy city to explore on foot with historic buildings, designer shops riverside bars and excellent restaurants.
Bordeaux / Hourtin area
Just a few minutes walk beside the lake takes you to Hourtin Port – marina, restaurants, small shop and a sandy beach with water sports – sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and more! Fishing, tennis, horse riding, mini-golf and a skate park are also nearby – something for everyone. Opposite the house is the Île aux Enfants – 10 hectares for children’s play and adventure. In the summer there are many activities organised for children. Around the house are miles of cycle paths beside the lake and through the forests.
The village of Hourtin – 2 kms away - is a small, friendly community built around a square with a variety of shops, small supermarkets, wine caves, Post Office, ATM, cinema and a weekly market ( twice weekly in summer).
Wi-Fi is available at bars in the Port and the village. Larger supermarkets are found in Lesparre- 15 minutes drive.
How to get there
By Ferry : the nearest ferry port is St. Malo - around 6 hours easy driving. Brittany Ferries also has fast ferries to Cherbourg and Caen - PLEASE CONTACT US - we can obtain a discount for you.
By Air : Bordeaux - Merignac airport is only an hour away- Easyjet fly here from several UK airports.
Ryanair, Easyjet and Flybe currently have summer flights to La Rochelle- less than 2 hours drive to our home. From 2010 Ryanair will also have flights direct from Edinburgh to Bordeaux.
By Rail; nearest main station is Bordeaux - 50 kms- 3 hours from Paris
CAR HIRE is easily available at either airport and at the railway station.

How to book your holiday in our lakeside chalet.
• A 30% non-refundable deposit is payable on booking
• The remaining 70% is payable 8 weeks before your arrival date.
• A further £250 damage/loss deposit is required 2 weeks before you leave for your holiday. This will be refunded 7-10 days after your departure. Should there be any breakages, damage or extra cleaning, the amount to put this right will be deducted.
Payments may be made in sterling or (by prior arrangement) in euros by cheque or bank transfer.

Book two consecutive weeks before 31st December 2010 and deduct £100 from the total price.
