The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

The Atlantic coastline gives plenty of sandy of beaches and some good surf within an hour drive of the house for those seeking an active break. Arcachon basin and town has everything and is simply stunning.

Some of the best French wines come from the Bordeaux area so it's a wine lovers paradise. Beautiful rolling hills of the vineyards are idillic for ramblers, cyclists and even by car.

The months of June, July, August and September usually peak around the 27/28c mark, which is still comfortable enough to enjoy the heat, with minimal rainfall for those months. In fact most months of the year are pleasant enough to have a wonderful time in this marvellous part of the country.

Lots of British/ French history dating back many centuries and chateaux can be seen all around.

In the close proximity of Montussan you have tennis, walking, cycling, wine tasting, golf within 8 miles. Bordeaux Centre for shopping, theatres, museums, opera, concerts, parks, every possible event you could need.

The Bordeaux public gardens are fantastic for the children: puppet shows, play areas with swings, a merry-go-round. The water feature in front of the 'Place de la Bourse' is good fun for adults as well as the children. Watch the huge cruise ships come into the city on the river. Day and night the architecture of Bordeaux is just absolutely wonderful. The city mixes modern - such as the tramway, with historic - like the recently refurbished Grand Theatre, in exceptional style.
