The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region

The Aquitaine region, of which Bordeaux is the capital, is located in the south-western corner of France, and stretches from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pyrenees on the border with Spain. The region was a powerful kingdom during the Middle Ages and today boasts a strong historical and cultural tradition. From the city of Bordeaux you can explore various sites in the surrounding area. For example, the coast is around 50 minutes away by train from Gare St Jean and the many vineyards around Bordeaux can be explored by car or by organised trips from Bordeaux city centre.
The Bordeaux area
The city of Bordeaux has been described as the mini Paris. The Musee de Beaux Arts, Cathedral St Andre and all of the historical centre are on the doorstep.
Place Gambetta, which is the major square in the centre of the city from which all the major streets lead, is a 2-minute walk away. From here you will be able to wander down the exclusive shopping streets of Cours de L'Intendance or Cours Georges Clemenceau or the pedestrianised Rue Sainte Catherine. Admire the wonderful 18th Century architecture in the historical quarter and the opera house in the Place de la Comedie, or take a walk along the banks of the Garonne where there are cafes and restaurants from which to admire the view.
The coast is around 50 minutes away by train from Gare St Jean and the many vineyards around Bordeaux can be explored by car or by organised trips from Bordeaux city centre. Wine tasting is available at many of the vineyards.

Guestbook for Beaux Arts
''I just wanted to send you a few lines about my wonderful stay in Bordeaux. The apartment was really lovely in every way. It is in a very secure, quiet building and on a hot day the air conditioning is very welcome. It is perfect accommodation for a solo traveller or a couple. I look forward to going back there.'' Barbara , Dublin.
"delicioso apartamento en Burdeos"
"Acabo de llegar de pasar una semana alojada en este apartamento y quiero decir que es un lugar muy acogedor y agradable. Es exactamente lo que se ve en las fotos pequeño, tranquilo y muy bien situado.
Desde aqui se pueden visitar muchas zonas cercanas a Burdeos como Medoc, Arcachon, etc. Además la cercanía al centro comercial te permite disponer de todo lo necesario para una estancia vacacional.
Un Saludo. " Gloria, Spain.
To make a long story short: Everything was perfect!
The apartment is exactly as the impression one gets from the pictures on this web site and exactly what we were looking for. A comfortable city accommodation which I prefer to a hotel. It is newly built, spacey, clear, clean, appealingly furnished/decorated and it has everything you need also for a longer stay. I do hope it will remain in this condition.
Kitchen equipment, towels, bed linen everything is there in sufficient quantity and good quality. Central location, Bordeaux city centre and all places of interest are in walking distance and taking such a situation into account, the street is astonishingly calm in the evening. In the neighbourhood you will find everything you need for self catering, supermarket, shopping centre, pharmacy, but also small bakeries, butchers etc..
In the apartment there is a lovingly compiled folder with information of the apartment, the town of Bordeaux, shopping tips, which surely matches a guidebook. Suzanne, Germany.
