This mobile home is situated on a site near to Hourtin in the Gironde. It is a family run site and mostly occupied by French families except, that is, during July and August. The Mobilehome is situated on the edge of the Camping and has alot of spare space on it. This enables one to pitch a tent or park as many cars as is reasonable (up to four). There two dedicated bedrooms and the lounge has a double bed as well.

The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Gironde region
This part of France has three main activities. It is located very close to the Medoc where some of the most famous wines in the world are made A tour of the vinyards is most enjoyable if a bit dangerous. There are many very large pine forests, which are grown as a cash crop but harbour most interesting forna. (red dear and wild boar for example) The third industry is tourism and a visit to the local web sit at www.mairie-hourtin.fr is worth while. The bird watching is superb. The beaches are superb and stretch from Le Verdon in the north to the Spanish boarder. One word about these beaches is that many are 'naturist'. Not compulsery but if you could be offended, be aware.
Just a few words about the wild life. There are so many birds in this area and it is the migratery path for so many more. Amongst the birds of prey seen regularly are Black Kites, Marsh, Monague and Hen Harriers. In Sept and Oct I have seen Ospreys on their way through. Storks and Hoopoos breed here and the meadow birds abound. Little and Cattle Egrets in plenty and the Redstart is as common as the Sparrow. I could go on and on but this is not the place. Oh! and Otters.
Bordeaux / Hourtin area
Street markets abound in this area and during the summer a music festival over the whole area. Bordeaux is just an hour away and a super city and well worth a visit but not on the day that the 'Tour de France' comes through, as we managed to do this year.
