The Aquitaine region

The B&B is set in "Premières Côtes de Blaye" & "Côtes de Bourg" vineyards.

The South Western French coast is privileged in its geographical situation and a recognised microclimate with more than 2300 hours of sun per year. Bordeaux is 35 kms from the house.

Bordeaux is synonymous across the globe with wine, the capital of the Aquitaine region. The Romans introduced the first vineyards over 2,000 years ago and Bordeaux has boomed as a wine-producing region ever since. It now turns out around 800m bottles each year thanks to a maritime climate and calcium-rich soil.

Bordeaux is also renowned for its classical and neoclassical architecture, its appearance largely unaltered in 200 years. It boasts more protected buildings than any French city other than Paris, though it remains a vibrant town in which commerce continues to play an important role. Bordeaux's location on the Garonne river has always been key to its trading tradition and the quays have recently undergone considerable renovation including "Le Miroir d'Eau" which is less than 10 years old, but located just across from a monument nearly 3 centuries old, it has become one of the city's main attractions.

"Fantastic"

Tanie and Ian were wonderful hosts. They gave us great suggestions for local restaurants and day trips in the area. We couldn't have chosen a better place to stay. The location and hospitality was superb.

"C'est Magnifique"

We had the most wonderful time at B&B Onze le Bourg. Tanie and Ian were the perfect hosts. We arrived late one summer afternoon to find a beautiful French Village awash in lavender hues. After settling in we followed Tanie's recommendation and walked down to a local restaurant for dinner. We enjoyed delicious provincial food underneath an old mulberry tree as a full moon was rising. It was a really memorable experience. Tanie was incredibly helpful, I contacted her many times before we arrived and she was always resourceful with recommendations, directions and even organised private transportation for us to travel to and from Bordeaux. Tanie also helped reorganise our travel back to Paris when our plans changed, going out of her way to assist us. We were incredible grateful. We would definitely stay again, it is a much more authentic experience than staying in Bordeaux city and travel to the wineries is easily organised. B&B Onze le Bourg is set in a beautiful garden carefully tended by Ian, it's a wonderful setting for the delicious breakfast Tanie lays out each morning. The rooms are large and clean, and the grounds are perfect for relaxing or you could do that by the swimming pool if you prefer, so hard to choose. It was the perfect provincial French experience we had hoped for.
