An architect's pied-à-terre...

Very Good 4/5 Score from 3 reviews

Apartment | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 2

Key Info
  • Not suitable for children
  • No pets allowed

This architect's pied-à-terre in the heart of old Bordeaux is an elegant and very personal setting for your discovery of the city. It has a "Factory" feel but is furnished with sculpture and paintings that reflect the owner's artistic, charmingly eclectic, tastes.

You are 3 short blocks from the Grosse Cloche, where you can take colorful Rue Saint James to the historic Place du Parlement, just steps from the most photographed square in Bordeaux, the Place de la Bourse. In the other direction, you're minutes away from the justly famous Marché des Capucins and Saint Michel, the 13th century basílica that was a mandatory stop on the Road to Compostela, with its elegant bell tower, the tallest in southern France.

Shop on Rue Sainte Catherine, France's longest pedestrian shopping street; stroll beside the majestic Garonne to Sainte Croix church in one direction, with its superb 13th-century organ, or to the charming Quai des Chartrons in the other, with little shops and antique dealers galore. The Grand Théâtre is a 15-minute walk, gateway to Bordeaux's most elegant shopping district and across from the Ecole du Vin where, if you are not already an expert oenologist, you can quickly become one!

Transportation is easy, with 2 tram lines, several buses, and bike-share stations close by, and the Gare Saint Jean train station only 2 tram stops away.

We can highly recommend two guides, one who offers personalized walking tours of the city and the other a wine specialist, who can also accompany you into the wine country.

Atelier Saint Michel has free wifi, many French and international television channels, well-stocked bookshelves and a good selection of DVDs, a large desk if you have work to do, and a well-equipped kitchen. A nearby supermarket offers free home delivery and the Marché des Capucins is a gourmet's dream!

"A great place to stay"

This is a very comfortable flat, with a spacious main room on the ground floor and a secluded bedroom mezzanine floor. Lots of character and very well appointed, though the tv and broadband still play… More

"Fantastic location, compact apartment with almost everything one could need. Splendid!"

I would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a reasonably priced stay in a young, popular area of Bordeaux. There is a small square literally two minutes walk from the apartment on the main … More

"Paid for a week, left after one night."

The apartment itself is a delightful and comfortable pied-a-terre and matches the description. However the area is very unpleasant, on a dark and unsavoury alleyway, run down and full of uncollected r… More

Dear Liam,
Thank you for taking the time to make a comment for this apartment.
The feeling of insecurity in the neighborhood reflects only your judgment, and I've never felt unsafe in this street. Garbage collection takes place every night. This is a very popular district, but we don't see all the same things...
500m from the apartment is the place Saint Michel with the Basilica and all the terraces of cafes and restaurants... 5min walk near the "Grosse Cloche" is the square Fernand Laffargue with the most popular places for youngs ...
This rental is not cheap, but a normal price for a week, but I understand your point of view because you asked me to pick up the keys to the Grand Hotel (THE 5 stars of the town!) Choose a small apartment and end up in a palace ....
Requesting refund you did not ask me have it, you have just asked me a message pick the keys to palace.
You forgot to say that you don't speak French, and I made an effort to speak to you in English as to write this response.
I hope next time you will be more objective ....
