Rue Lachassaigne is a traditional and elegant town house very close to the City Centre in the St Seurin area of Bordeaux City. There is a wonderful village community on your door step with a stunning Basilica, great boutique shops and a village green with a children's play area. The old pedestrian part of the city centre is about a 15 minute walk or a 5 minute car or bus journey. There is secured garage parking with the property. There is also one of the most amazing public baths with an olympic sized swimming pool just a few blocks away at the Piscine Judaique just a 5 minute walk.

The house has been tastefully renovated keeping the original features, furnished with lovely antiques as well as having everything that is required for modern living.

You enter the building via an elegant hall way with original ornate stone flooring, wooden panelling and hand painted walls. On the left are double glazed doors which leads in to a snug room with a television, dvd and comfy sofas, which makes an ideal area for kids, to hide away to watch a movie or to read a good book. In the hallway there is a stunning atrium and an impressive staircase which flows through the two floors with a glazed roof light

Ahead is a charming period living room with antiques and an original fireplace, a TV which makes an elegant room to retire to after dinner. There is wifi through out the house. Off the living room is a galley cupboard where there is a laundry room with a washing machine and tumble dryer and a place to hang your coats.

Through the glazed doors you are lead to a great kitchen / dining room. The fitted kitchen is perfectly designed with two ovens a dishwasher, sink and microwave. It is fully equipped with cupboards full of cutlery, dinner services, pots, pans, casserole dishes, utensils, glasses and the most important wine bottle opener.

From the kitchen is a lovely courtyard garden where you can enjoy the sunshine and have an alfresco lunch in the privacy of your own garden.

Once you have climbed the elegant staircase to the first floor landing to your right is the master bedroom with an antique bed and wardrobe. There are two large french doors leading onto juliet balconies over looking the street below. From this bedroom you are lead through a narrow room which can be used as a dressing room which then leads to the master bathroom. This is a stunning bathroom with windows looking onto the garden. It has a spectacular deep original Napoleonic clawed bath with plenty of room for two. On the other side of the bathroom is a bedroom with a french bed making a large single bedroom. This room has a door way leading onto the landing.

On the second floor there is a large double bedroom with an antique bed. From this bedroom is a doorway leading to a bathroom with a claw bath and a sink. Through another door you are lead onto the hallway with an enclosed toilet just to your left. Off this hallway is a single bedroom with a french bed that then has an adjoining door leading into another double bedroom which can be approached from the main landing by the staircase.

All linen is provided including bathroom towels. The house is cleaned on changeover days. If change of sheets and extra cleaning is required this can be arranged at an extra cost.

The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Bordeaux is undoubtedly most famous worldwide for its superb wines. It is the capital of the region known as Aquitaine and is a major cultural centre and a transportation hub between southern France and Spain.

If you wish to break up the hustle & bustle of the City during your stay the apartments offer an ideal base from which to explore the Aquitaine Region.

It is easy to hire a car from the airport or the train station. For those interested in viniculture, Bordeaux is surrounded with Chateaux and vineyards. The most famous St Emilion only half an hour away, the Medoc or Haute Medoc due North and the Graves and Entre-deux Mers area due South East of Bordeaux.

If you want a bit of sea air then the Atlantic coast, with Arcachon, Ile de Re or Biscarosse with huge sand dunes, gorgeous beaches and wonderful seafood restaurants are all within an hours reach.

Bordeaux

This elegant city is rich in history, culture, arts, music, legendary wines and gastronomy. It is not only the fine wines capital of the world but also a vibrant centre of trade, industry, services and business.

The city centre is known for its neoclassic architecture and wide avenues, which over recent years have undergone a major investment to include cleaning up the building facades and renovating the quayside, to make a fashionable restaurant and bar district. A state of the art tram system is now operating in the city, which has reduced traffic congestion and left the city centre pedestrianised and easy to navigate.

Bordeaux is a fantastic showcase for Romanesque, gothic and Renaissance art displayed in museums, churches, forts, galleries, mansions, gardens and public walkways and buildings.

Bordeaux is a fantastic urban City steeped in history as well as offering plenty of green space. The Quay has been transformed with amazing gardens, lawned areas with avenues of lime trees and even the trams drive on grass tracks. Jardin de Public is close by to the apartments where you will find a great city centre park with Botanical gardens, children's playground with a Carousel and a restaurant / cafe to pass a sunny afternoon.
