Ala Ala Villa
Villa | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
By choosing to stay in Ala Ala Villa, you will have the opportunity to experience Boracay like few others get to. Nestled in a private compound above Diniwid Beach, Ala Ala offers guests privacy and seclusion in stunning natural surroundings. In the Pulang Lupa compound, we have elected to live more in harmony with the beautiful natural environment of the island. This is reflected in the unique design of the homes and the lush gardens and ponds surrounding Ala Ala.
The unique style of Ala Ala, with its cogon grass and bamboo roof is reminiscent of the traditional architectural styles throughout Southeast Asia. Not only is it beautiful, it is also practical. It helps to keep the villa cool and provides ample ventilation. Ala Ala is situated to take advantage of the cooling sea breezes.
Ala Ala is a 5 minute walk from Din-iwid Beach, a lovely small beach away from the madding crowds of White Beach. For an evening of fun, however, White Beach is definitely the place to head. From Diniwid Beach, it's a 20 minute beach stroll or a 10 minute tricycle ride.

The Visayas region
The Visayas are the group of islands that make up the central Philippines, including most of the islands between Luzon in the north (were Manila is located), Mindanao, in the south, and Palawan in the east. Major islands in the Visayas include Bohol, Cebu, Leyte, Negros, Panay, Romblon, Samar, and Siquijor. The islands often vary in topography and culture. In addition to the beaches found on islands such as Boracay and Cebu, the region is rich in history. On the island of Mactan, just off the coast of Cebu is the monument to Chief Lapu-Lapu, who killed Ferdinand Magellan in the Battle of Mactan Island on 27 April 1521. The island of Leyte is where General Douglas MacArthur lead the invasion to expel the Japanese from the Philippines in 1944. It is also the island on which Magellan first landed in the Philippines in 1521.
There are many hidden treasure in the Visayas region. Pristine beaches are many, with Boracay's White Beach being the most famous. In addition, the beautiful tropical landscape, and warm, friendly people make the Visayas a great region to explore.
Boracay Island is located at the northern tip of the bigger island of Panay in the Visayas region. Until the 1970's, the island remained unknown to most outside of the Visayas region. In the '70's it was "discovered" by hippies who added it to their worldwide travel network. Gradually, the island became better known to the outside world because of it's incredible white-sand beach stretching for more than 4 kilometers. As a vacation destination, Boracay, really became popular only about 5 years ago.
The island is easy to get around, since it is only 7 kilometers long and 1 kilometer at its widest point. There are only three small villages on the island. These "barangays" are Yapac, Balabag, and Manoc-Manoc. Before tourism, the major occupation was fishing and still is for many native islanders. Drop by Diniwid Beach, north of White Beach, early in the morning and choose from the catch-of-the-day. The pristine waters have made Boracay a favourite diving destination. Kite boarding and windsurfing also attract large numbers of enthusiests.
After sunset, White Beach nightlife is hard to resist. Restaurants, bars, nightclubs, and beach parties offer something for everyone.
If you prefer something far from the madding crowds, areas at the north end of the island, such as Diniwid and Puka beaches provide tranquil small beaches and lush tropical forests.

recently, we had the pleasure of staying at ala ala during our holiday in Boracay.
the biggest "wow" factor for us was how much the villa and its surroundings fit the images in our minds as to what it would be like staying in a "paradise like" environment. the villa itself felt very authentic with its far reaching grass thatched roof made from indigenous materials and constructed by local craftspeople to its dining table made from bamboo trees cut from the backyard from where it was also assembled located in the center of the open air setting of the main area. in addition to the villa's natural beauty, including a lily pond adjacent to the kitchen area, it contained all of the necessary conveniences such as a spacious bathroom and Internet access.
very convenient to the villa was diniwid beach. it took us less than five minutes to walk to the picturesque beach from the villa. While at the beach, we could enjoy swimming, snorkeling, dining at a cafe, or just watching the local fishermen or the stunning sunset.
I am always gratified when guests take the time to comment on their stays at Ala Ala Villa. And, I am pleased that they appreciate the unique qualities of the villa. The ceiling and roof are always breath-taking to first-timers at the villa. In addition to its beauty, it is also sturdy, water-proof, and keeps the villa cool throughout the year, without the need for air-conditioning. This helps keep the villa as green as possible. I do hope that you will again return soon to Ala Ala and Boracay.
