This converted barn is set in the courtyard adjacent to the owners farmhouse in the village of Bonsall. It is high above the wooded 'Via Gellia' gorge. With the lively town of Matlock Bath, 2 miles by car or a scenic walk through woodland. Superb walks from the door to the limestone moors above.
It is a quiet spot ideally located for walkers but within easy driving distance of many visitor attractions. Chatsworth House, park, garden, farm and childrens play area has something for everyone. Haddon Hall and Arkwright's Mills for the historians and Crich Tramway Museum, Gullivers Kingdom, Carsington Water and Alton Towers theme and water parks for family groups. The Play Mill is an indoor play area for under 9's which is a 5 minute drive away.

Private car park for 4 - 6 vehicles. Private outdoor area with garden furniture and BBQ. Utility room with washer, dryer and space for cycle storage.
Childrens park with swings, slides, climbing frame, football pitch and woodland walks a short walk away at the bottom of our drive.
Milk, eggs, juice, yoghurts etc can be ordered in advance or on arrival and delivered to your door on a daily basis.
The Fountain Tea Rooms, at the bottom of the drive, is open daily for breakfast, lunch and tea and cakes.
The Fountain Store and Deli is situated next to the tea rooms and sells everything from essentials to luxury items.
There are two pubs in the village which serve meals daily, except Mondays, and have weekend entertainment.
Cycle hire is available in the village.

The pubs do get busy on Saturday nights so booking is advisable.
WiFi is available at the Fountain Tea Rooms, the Barley Mow and the Kings Head.

The barn is available from 3pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 10am on the day of departure.

The layout of the barn makes it ideal for families and friends to share but also have some privacy. There is a double, with vanity basin, and bunk bed room on entrance which share a bathroom. Upstairs next to the lounge is the double ensuite and next door a twin room (these beds can be put together to act as a double if required). The lounge leads through into the dining room, kitchen and outside seating area. Downstairs from the dining room is a double and a twin room, with vanity basin, which share a bathroom.
Please note - of the six single beds two are bunk beds. Two cots and high chairs are available on request.
Both sets of stairs have stair gates fitted. There are TV's in both the lounge and the dining room.

These all provide great family days out within easy driving distance.
We are situated just on the edge of the Peak Park and Dovedale is just a 20 minute drive away. If you enjoy walking there are some fantastic walks for the accomplished walker and we have also produced a booklet containing a variety of walks right from your cottage door, in and around the village. These range from 1 – 10 miles and are suitable for the whole family.
The closest swimming pools are at Matlock and Bakewell. There is also a swimming pool at Chesterfield which has a slide, toddler pool and three diving boards.
There are three cinemas in the area:
Derby (Derby cinema is situated in the new Westfield shopping centre.)
Factory outlet shopping is also easily accessible at:
Arkwright Mills shopping centre, Cromford
Peak Village, Rowsley.
There is a folder in each cottage containing leaflets for all of these and so much more, to keep you entertained during your stay. There is also a folder containing local restaurants and take away menus.
Bonsall is a lovely and very active village. As well as a farm shop we have two pubs serving fine ales and food.
The Barley Mow is renowned for its Landlords guided walks, sighting of UFO's! and annual hen racing on the first Saturday in August. Most Saturdays they have live music. If you're here on a bank holiday look out for their mini beer and music festivals.
The Kings Head has Saturday night entertainment and Sunday night quiz's.
We also have a monthly village publications called The Mutterings with what's on and all the latest village gossip!!
The last Saturday in July is our annual well dressing and carnival. There are events every evening of the following week culminating in a fantastic firework display on the Friday evening. A week not to be missed!
At the bottom of the driveway is a park with football pitch and a childrens play area with climbing frames, swings and a slide and is suitable for all ages!
The Fountain Tea Room, at the bottom of our drive, is open for breakfast from 8.30 and serves food and drinks until 5.30pm.
The Fountain Store and Deli is a 2 minute walk away (adjacent to the Tea Rooms) for all your essentials and luxury items.
