Home description
Gite St Alexandre has an amazing location, right in the centre of the much sort after village of Bonnieux, in the Luberon hills. You’d never know it was there as it’s tucked away in a secluded spot close to the medieval ramparts.
One big advantage of being perched on the hillside amongst the original village buildings is the fantastic view from the Gite and garden. You overlook the whole valley and could easily spend a good part of your stay watching country life go by amongst the vineyards and farms below.
Despite it’s village centre location the Gite has a lovely garden and swimming pool and once you’re within its walls you’ll notice the peace and tranquillity.
The Gite is split into 2 separate apartments, one either side of the pool. Each has a double bedroom, a shower room and toilet, and a small living room. Only of them has a kitchen so the whole place is obviously only rented out to one party.
This place is ideal for 2 couples, or a family with older children who want the luxury of a gorgeous garden and pool, along with the convenience of being in a village.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Vaucluse region
The winding roads of the Luberon, with spectacular views, are great to explore and you'll find loads of picturesque villages (Gordes, Menerbes, Maubec) on the doorstep and no doubt you'll want to stop and take some refreshments!
There's loads to do and see in the area; St Remy-de-Provence, famous for its Roman architecture, Les Baux with its ruined castle and unique rock formations, L'Isle sur la Sorgue, famous as an antique centre and market. Also within easy reach are Pont du Gard, Avignon with the Palace of the Popes, Marseille with its famous waterfront, the Amphitheatre at Nimes and the cultured avenues of Aix-en-Provence.
If activity is your thing, this area is perfect for climbing, cycling, mountain biking, trekking, golf, tennis and swimming.
Bonnieux area
The village of Bonnieux has a rich and varied history and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the Luberon.
In summer the village is really popular and therefore has some great restaurants and cafés. Although not very big, it has some useful and interesting shops, including bakers, butchers, grocery, pharmacy, post office and tourist information centre. There's also a local market on a Friday.
Just a short drive away there's a great Sunday morning market at Coustellet and the larger town of Apt is only 15 minutes away.

Further details indoors: We’d recommend this one to either 2 couples or a family with older children.
It’s not really suitable for younger children or elderly people as there are lots of steps (53!) to get to the house as it’s built on the hillside, close to the ramparts.
If the steps don’t pose a problem, then it’s a great Gite. It has a well-equipped kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher and both bedrooms and living rooms are nicely decorated.
Further details outdoors: If you visit during the summer, you’ll probably spend most of your time in the garden, relaxing by the pool (5 x 3 m). There’s plenty of garden furniture and space for eating outside and admiring the view.

Car parking is available in the village, next to the ramparts, just a short walk from the Gite.
