About the home

Spinners at Godremamog watermill offers a fantastic way to get away from it all in a beautiful secluded valley, surrounded by mountain streams, woodland and footpaths. The millwheel has been turning since 1885.

There are 9 acres of grounds with riverside gardens all around the mill and woods as far as the eye can see.

It's an ideal base for exploring West Wales, with castles, coast paths and the sandy beaches of Pembrokeshire and Cardigan Bay nearby. This apartment is at the entrance level and no steps are needed to reach it.

This spacious two-bedroom mill apartment is at the entrance level of Godremamog Mill, with no steps needed to reach it. It has direct garden access via a door in the twin bedroom.

There is a double bedroom with the luxury of a Four Poster double bed. The bed was made especially for the mill by a local artist. It is a double aspect room with views over the river and East along the leat up the valley. This room has a dressing shelf, mirror and stool. There is a DAB radio/Ipod Dock by the bed. The twin bedroom, with two adult size single beds, is also a double aspect room, looking out towards the hillside garden and East up the valley. This room has a French door which opens onto the platform across the leat to the driveway. Note - an additional bed/ cot / 3/4 bed can be added to this room by request. Both bedrooms have a built-in double wardrobe with plenty of coat hangers. There is a bedside table/drawers and a bedside lamp for each person.

The lounge/dining room has a comfortable three-piece suite, a wood effect stove, a flat screen colour television and a video recorder/dvd player. There is a small collection of books and videos in the apartment, with lots more available in the libraries. Free internet connectivity can be provided on request. The dining table has 4 chairs.

The kitchen is fully equipped including a full sized oven, ceramic electric hob, microwave, slim-line dishwasher, freezer and fridge. The bathroom is fully fitted with a shower over the bath.

Further details outdoors:
Spinners has direct garden access via a door in the twin bedroom, across a platform onto raised decking over the leat (the small stream which feeds the wheel). It has a table and chairs and looks out over the garden towards the river. There are steps down from this platform to the garden.

The gardens can also be accessed through the mill entrance without worrying about steps.

There are gardens all around the mill, with lots of places to sit and watch the river or contemplate the trees, including two beautiful pergolas, next to the river, made from materials taken from the woodland all around you. There are steps down to the waterside so that you can paddle in the river. You can chill in the summer house, which is well stocked with books, CDs and games.

The garden next to the waterwheel is fenced and contains a patio with a hot tub, BBQ hut (where you can BBQ whatever the weather) and Swim4Spa - a swimming pool where you swim against a current. It's heated so that you can swim even in December. So it doesn't matter what the weather is doing, you can still have a lovely time at the mill.

There is a woodland trail which climbs up the hillside and into the trees, offering wonderful views of the valley, as well as lots of public footpaths which allow you to explore the whole valley without getting the car out.

There is a shared laundry and drying room with a washing machine and dishwasher.

There is plenty of room for parking and you can drive right up to the mill entrance to unload.

The waterwheel still turns under water power - you can watch it turn as you BBQ. We have just installed a hottub, Swim Spa(Combined hotub and small swimming area in which you have to swim against a current generated by a pump) and a BBQ hut which enables up to 15 people to have a BBQ irrespective of the weather.

Tea, coffee, fruit tea provided on arrival. If a full week is booked, a welcome pack of scrummy local produce also provided.

The extensive grounds are shared with other holiday makers and the owners. Please note that the wheel is very large and has been fenced off for safety.

Conditions

The full balance is due 2 months before the start of your holiday. Before that date, a 25% deposit is required to secure your booking.
Please note, the deposit of 25% of the booking price is non-returnable and no refund will be automatically made on cancellation once payment has been received. If a refund is made, any PayPal charges incurred by the owners will be deducted. This does not affect your statutory rights.

Short breaks must be paid in full when booking.

Your apartment will be available to you from 16:00 on the day that you arrive. In order to maintain high standards of cleanliness we ask you to vacate your apartment by 10.00am on the day of departure.

Parents/Guardians must take responsibility for their children, who play at their own risk. Young children must be supervised in the gardens for their own safety, especially near the river.

All vehicles and their accessories and contents together with personal items and baggage are left at owner’s risk.

Sorry – no smoking inside the mill but guests may smoke in the garden.

The West Wales / Pembrokeshire / Pembrokeshire region

There is so much to do in West Wales - whatever the weather. Whether you're into walking, cycling, birdwatching, golf, fishing, art, horse riding, good food, railways or adventurously leaping off cliffs, you'll find plenty of opportunities.

We are 25 minutes drive from the start of both the Pembrokeshire coastal path and the Ceredigion coast path, which total 246 miles of glorious walking. If you prefer cycling to walking, the Brechfa Forest mountain trails are 30 minutes drive from the mill and there are plenty of gentle cycle paths like the Millennium Trail along the coast at Llanelli.

There is so much history here - our valley itself has been famed in story for over a thousand years. The Preselli mountains are nearby, the origin of the bluestones at Stonehenge. There are more castles per square mile in Wales than anywhere else in the world and we have our fair share with 30+ castles in West Wales. Newcastle Emlyn castle is just 10 minutes drive away.

The wildlife is stunning - you can take boat trips out to see dolphins and seals. Guests have spotted dolphins right inside New Quay harbour. For those guests who prefer catching fish to watching them, we are in the middle of the Teifi and Towi sea-trout fishing area.

For the more adventurous, there is coasteering if you like leaping off rocks, surf lessons for cool dudes or laser combat if you fancy shooting your friends and family.

The Boncath area

Within a half hour drive of Godremamog Mill, you will find:
- Cenarth Adventure Centre with laser quest, paintballing and archery
- Newcastle Emlyn, with its independent shops, galleries, antiques centre and castle (free entry)
- The National Woollen Museum - free to visit and fascinating, especially for children
- The Cenarth Coracle Centre - a very entertaining way to find out about an ancient craft still used around here.
- The Teifi Marshes wildlife reserve with both freshwater and saltwater marsh habitats. There are lots of birds to watch from the hides. Water buffallo are used to manage the reserve. The cafe there does great lunches.
- Poppit Sands, a huge sandy beach with summer lifeguards, dunes, rock pools and boats bobbing on the estuary.
- The Brechfa Forest mountain bike trails
- Fforest for kayaking, rafting, coasteering, surfing, climbing, bushcraft etc
- Cardigan with its shops,theatre and cinema, market, galleries and a quay where you can get a boat trip.
- The Museum of Childhood - you are bound to see at least one toy you used to play with here.
- Llangranog with its lovely beach and coves, superb fish and chips and ice-cream to remember.
- Mwnt - a good place to spot dolphins. There's an ancient church and a stunningly beautiful beach.
- Caws Cenarth cheese factory - one of our many excellent local food suppliers, Caws Cenarth has won many national and international awards.
- Lots and lots of local pubs and restaurants serving excellent meals.
- Enough walks to keep you busy for a very, very long time, including the start of both the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion coastal paths.

Godremamog Mill is right on the Pembrokeshire / Carmarthenshire border, half way between Cardigan and Carmarthen, in rural West Wales. The nearest village is Capel Iwan. The nearest supermarkets, garages, shops, cafes and a castle are 10 minutes drive away in Newcastle Emlyn.

-From the Midlands and the South, there's a fast route right up to Carmarthen on the M4 and A48 dual carriageway. Then it's 1/2 hour on quiet country roads to the mill.

-From the North, there's the amazing drive on A roads through Wales to Newcastle Emlyn, then 10 minutes to the mill.

There are national rail links and National Express coach routes to Carmarthen, sea routes to Swansea and Fishguard, air links to Cardiff. The local taxi firm is Home James – 01239 711 201.

“Fantastic setting” We had a lovely stay at the mill, both Chris and Sam were the perfect hosts. The mill is in a beautiful setting and very relaxing with the sound of the water trickling past. Our teenage boys enjoyed the hot tubs and swim machine while we relaxed with a glass of wine in the summer house. The Nags Head Pub just up the road has lovely food and well worth a visit. We hope to visit again but for a longer stay next time.
