Chalet Planina is a beautiful 3-4 bedroom Bohinj chalet sleeping up to 8 people just a few minutes drive from Lake Bohinj one of Slovenia's most stunning natural treasures and in close proximity to quality skiing at Vogel & Kobla and a huge range of river, lake & mountain activities in Summer. Located in a peaceful position in a quiet village of weekend chalets, the house overlooks a lovely terrace and garden with stunning views of the Julian Alps and Slovenia's highest mountain - the iconic Triglav. The chalet has three bedrooms, additional attic sleeping area, large reception room, fully equipped kitchen entry room / cellar and two bathrooms. Everything has been recently renovated and newly equipped to the highest standards with flat screen TV / satellite TV / DVD player among the many features as well as garden seating and barbeque. A fantastic base from which to explore Slovenia's enchanting Lakes Region.

The land of cherries, apricots, excellent wines and breathtaking views. Steeped in history and culture you will never be short of things to wile away your time. Make your way to the emerald River Soca with the magnificent stone bridge in Solkan; the bridge boasts the longest stone arch in the world and is considered a masterpiece of engineering and construction, while the river offers many possibilities for water-based activities such as fishing, kayaking. Visit the Church of St. Andrew in Vrhovlje, where you can see the most beautiful 15th century frescoes in Brda. Or perhaps the 17th century Dobrovo Castle, in the upper part of the village of Dobrovo, and Vipolže Manor in the village of Vipolže, once a representative villa and hunting manor of the counts of Gorica. The medieval village of Šmartno, situated in the centre of Brda and representing a unique cultural monument, and see its baroque church of St: Martin and the Briška hiša museum. Take a walk to the 16th century basilica on Sveta Gora (681 m), an important pilgrimage site, and see its collection of exhibits from the First World War. Or maybe a walk through the protected botanical and forest reserve in Paradana, where you can also see the Big Ice Cave.

Loved this place. We actually stayed here over Easter 2010 but can't put that date in for some reason! Great views from the deck...can actually see Triglav (we think!). Well equipped kitchen, comfortable living area & good sized bedrooms. You need a car to get around but easy to drive in Slovenia. We were actually skiing here & although the infrastructure is more limited that perhaps Italy or France, we skiied in two resorts & had great snow where as a week later in France the snow was in very poor condition. |
