Home description
The apartment sits beside a beautiful stream in a quiet residential area on the outskirts of Bohinjska Bistrica. The location exudes peace and tranquillity and yet is only a five minute walk from the centre of town, with easy access to all amenities, including the local supermarket, swimming complex, tennis courts and some excellent restaurants for eating out.
Bohinj lake is just a few kilometres away (offering a wide range of outdoor activities including boating, kayaking, cycling, horse riding and, of course, walking amongst the awesome mountain scenery). The town of Bled, with its famously picturesque lake, is also only twenty minutes' drive away.
Situated on the ground floor and with two large double bedrooms (and an additional sofa bed), the apartment is ideal for families seeking a relaxing base from which to explore this idyllic mountain paradise.

The Gorenjska region
The Bohinj region is an area of outstanding natural beauty. The lake (a calm oasis of over one million cubic metres of water and within a few kilometres of the apartment) is surrounded by imposing mountains - a sight to literally take your breath away.
The temperature in Summer typically ranges from 25ºC to 33ºC. In Winter, skiing is very popular and in the coldest months it is even possible to ice skate on Bohinj lake.
Bled lies just twenty minutes away and is also very popular with tourists because of its fairytale lake.
Bohinj / Bohinjska Bistrica area
There are a whole host of activities within a short distance of the apartment.
The town boasts an AquaPark (five minutes walk away) complete with water flumes, sauna, jacuzzi and gym. Tennis courts are also located within a few minutes' walk.
At Bohinj lake itself, you can walk, climb, canoe, kayak, swim, horse ride, cycle or hire a boat. The more adventurous can also explore paragliding, canyoning or hydrospeed. For golf enthusiasts, Bled boasts a tournament-standard course.
For Winter activities, Bohinj has two major ski resorts: Kobla (located in Bohinjska Bistrica, just ten minutes' walk from the apartment) and Vogel (located at Bohinj lake a few kilometres away and easily accessible by bus).
Kobla ski centre (540m - 1480m) has a good range of beginner and intermediate runs. It also has a ski school and benefits from a snowmaking system to ensure good levels of snow at all times in Winter.
Vogel ski centre (565m - 1800m) is located high above Bohinj lake - so high in fact that it is possible to ski on natural snow even in the middle of April. It has an excellent range of ski runs catering for all abilities. In Winter, a skibus drives through all the local villages (including Bohinjska Bistrica) and provides easy access to the slopes. There is also parking at the bottom of the cable car if you have your own transport.
How to get there
There are lots of airlines which fly to Ljubljana (Slovenia’s capital city). For good value, no frills travel from the UK, I’d suggest either Easyjet (London Stansted) or Adria Airways (London Gatwick). It is also possible to fly to Trieste (on the Italy / Slovenia border) from Birmingham via Ryanair.

Note that Ljubljana airport is not actually in Ljubljana. It’s in Brnik, which is several miles north. Not so important on the way out, but good to remember if you’re driving back.
A couple of options to get to the apartment from Ljubljana airport:
1. Take a bus. This is good value (approximately 14 Euros per person) and you only have to change once (in Kranj). Journey time is typically 2 hours. You can download bus timetables from my web site (address below).
2. Hire a car. There are a variety of car hire companies to choose from once you arrive at Ljubljana airport. I would strongly recommend Atet Car Rentals. Their customer service is excellent and you can pre-book using the straightforward form on their web site. Driving to the apartment takes about an hour.
There is a train station in Bohinjska Bistrica, but not at Ljubljana airport. Nevertheless, it is an easy means of transport once you arrive if you'd prefer not to hire a car (travel to the popular nearby town of Bled will cost you less than 2 Euros).
