About the home

Villa Belica makes a fantastic base from which to explore Slovenia’s enchanting Lakes Region. A traditional style Slovenian chalet with delightful terrace and garden, enclosed by forest on one side and offering a panoramic view of Triglav, Slovenia’s highest mountain on the other, the villa is situated on the edge of the tranquil village of Bohinj Polje just a few minutes drive or a short walk via a scenic forest path to the majestic Lake Bohinj, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests. The area offers a huge range of outdoor activities all year round both on and around the Lake - from fly-fishing to mountain biking, from kayaking to mountain walking not to mention excellent on and off piste skiing at the highly respected resort of Vogel and great family skiing at th smaller reosrt of Kobla, both within a few minutes drive of the house. The house itself is renovated to a very high standard with wooden flooring and comfortable solid wood furnishing throughout.

The Villa has three double bedrooms - on the ground floor there is a double bedroom with en suite shower room and terrace doors into the garden, on the first floor there is a lovely large double bedroom with doors onto the stunning balcony and another bedroom with 2 single beds. The two first floor bedrooms share a spacious bathroom with large bath and shower. On the ground floor there is a dining room, on the bottom floor is a large bright open plan living room with access onto the terrace, flatscreen TV and DVD player and comfortable single sofabed + 1 additional single fold out bed. In addition there is a separate fully equipped kitchen, WC and entry room. In the basement is a storage room and a large room. Everything has been recently renovated and newly equipped to the highest standards with wooden flooring and beautiul solid wood alpine style furnishings throughout.

The Villa is adjoined by a pretty garden with terrace area looking over panoramic views with outdoor seating, table and barbecue area. A lovely secluded space for sunbathing or children to play in in Summer months.

The Gorenjska region

The Gorenjska region is home to Slovenia's most beautiful scenery, the stunning Julian Alps and the Triglav National Park. Lake Bohinj is considered to be many as the jewel in the crown of this wonderful region.

The Bohinj area

Bohinj Polje is a quiet village of mountain chalets just a few minutes drive from Lake Bohinj, a serene lake surrounded by towering peaks and pristine forests, which many consider to be the most beautiful part of a stunningly beautiful country. The area is a paradise for outdoor activities of all types. In Summer this includes a wealth of walking to suit all abilities, a variety of water based activities from swimming, sailing and windsurfing on Lake Bohinj to kayaking / rafting on the Sava Bohinjka river leading from the lake plus a huge range of other interesting activities to cater for all tastes - from horseriding to canyoning, mountaineering to paragliding, not to mention top class fly fishing. In Winter there is excellent skiing at 2 locations within 10 minutes drive of the Villa - the highly respected resort of Vogel which offers lots of on and off piste skiing, good lift infrastructure, snow record and the smaller family resort of Kobla. There is futher skiing at Soriska Planina circa 20 minutes drive away and a variety of other resorts up to 1 hours drive away. There is an excellent water park in the town of Bohinjska Bistrica a few minutes drive from the house offering modern pool and spa facilities. In Bohinjska Bistrica you can also find a range of restaurants, bars, shops and other useful amenities. Just 20 minutes drive away is world famous Lake Bled with its picturesque church on an island overlooked by a medieval castle.

Although it’s a couple of weeks since we returned from holiday (to a defunct computer) I wanted to say how much we enjoyed our 12 day stay at Villa Belica recently. The property was lovely, very comfortable (you can always judge a place by the beds!) and in such a fantastic location. The caretaker was very friendly, and although we didn’t need to call on them during our stay I wouldn’t have hesitated to do so if necessary. Also it has been so easy booking - all our queries answered promptly and the directions to the property fantastic. So thank you very much. We had a great time, tackled a lot of hard walks, went riding and canoeing and felt really refreshed on our return. I would quite happily recommend to a friend.

I don't have enough good things to say about this property and company. The descriptions were accurate, the place was extremely clean and well maintained and everyone we dealt with were friendly and helpful. The property is in a wonderful and quiet area that might have been hard to find if we had not gotten such excellent driving instructions including pictures of intersections. it is right outside the National Park and about 15 minutes from Bled. I have already recommended it to a few friends.

We were 4 young travelers and had a great time at Villa Belica. The owners were so helpful and were always there before, during and after our stay if we needed anything anytime. They gave great directions to the house and were very helpful. The house on the inside looks very modern, clean, nicely designed and furnished, very comfortable beds and sheets, well equipped kitchen... It is very well located next to lake Bohinj and about 25min from Bled. We highly recommend it to everyone!

Villa Belica is an ideal place for those looking to have a lot of walking, hiking and skiing. The place is modern, well fitted and we were well looked after by the housekeepers. In October, the villages and lakes were quiet and peaceful, just what we wanted. Bled has some outstanding golf courses and restaurants and a drive up the mountains from the villa led us to a number of villages with pristine beauty and peace. We loved Slovenia and will be back again for sure.

Excellent property. Really clean & well maintained. Local agent / housekeeper really helpful. great location close to the main villages and attractions not to mention fantastic views of Triglav. Don't forget to go to the Tourist Information and get the Bohinj Guest Card - gives discounts at some attractions but most usefully allows free parking in the area.
