The South East England region

Middleton on Sea has it's own micro climate with the weather normally better than inland.

There are many things to do in the area and plenty of information at the house to help you choose. Our favourites are a walk or cycle along the promenade to Bognor Regis or half way to the Lobster Pot Cafe; a wander around Arundle and it's fantastic castle or a boat trip up the river to the Black Swan pub; Chichester has many things to offer from shopping to history; and of course Middleton's fantastic beach!

It is an easy flat 2 mile walk or cycle (where permitted) along the seafront to Bognor Regis, with the many attractions of an English seaside town, including a wide range of shops and services.

A similar distance to the East is Climping, and, beyond, Littlehampton, where there is good crabbing.

Brighton and Portsmouth are within easy reach; the latter with its historic dockyard, including HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and with it's Isle of Wight ferries.

Chichester, the county town with its cathedral, historic buildings, modern theatre and Planetarium

Roman villas at Fishbourne and Bignor

Stately homes and gardens at Goodwood, UpPark, West Dean, Parham, Arundel Castle and Petworth

Beaches at The Witterings (East and West)

Open Air Museum at Singleton (medieval buildings) and Amberley (industrial life)

Chichester Harbour with picuresque waterside villages of Bosham and Itchenor

Arundel nature reserve and Pagham bird sanctuary

The life boat station at Selsey

Horse racing at Goodwood and Fontwell

Goodwood Festival of Speed, Revival Meeting, Sculpture Park

The wide open spaces of the South Downs

Bognor Regis

The village of Middleton-on-Sea is delightful and designated an “Area of Special Character”.

The village contains a network of paths called “twittens” and has little traffic (except on the main road) so walking is a pleasure, and it is also great for junior cyclists.

There is a good range of shops including a newsagent, post office (with basic food provisions), butcher, fish & chip shop, off-licence and several more.

Just a few hundred metres away in Elmer are further shops including a One-Stop, Indian restaurant, pubs etc. There are larger supermarkets towards Littlehampton or Bognor Regis.

Middleton farm shop is good for vegetables whilst Bairds Farm Shop in Climping is good for everything! There are numerous places to eat in the surrounding area.
