Home description

In unspoilt Northern Cyprus relax in our 3 bed 3 bath Villa with pool between half a dozen properties and Olympic pool across the road. Everything you need for a relaxing peaceful holiday is included. A garden surrounds the property and if you can go out of season you'll probably have pool to yourself as very few go out of season. Even in high Summer very few on site.

Although a semi, the two bedrooms upstairs are separated from the neighbouring property by the upstairs terrace and the wide Hallway. Similarly the downstairs bedroom is separated by Hallway and staircase, so shouldn't hear neighbours snoring!

Diving or snorkelling in the crystal clear waters on the doorstep and exploring the unique Karpaz Penninsula should be tried or take a walk down a country road if it's not too hot. Birdwatchers will have a field day as many interesting species around. Wild orchids are at their best in April and they abound.

The Famagusta District

Lovely peaceful country area with quaint fishing harbour nearby, 20 mins Famagusta, just over one hour to Nicosia, 20 mins more Kyrenia. Near to scenic and historic Kantara Castle (Knight's Templar), very close to beautiful Karpaz Peninsula , where wild donkeys roam, and is an enchanting and unspoilt nature lovers paradise being almost uninhabited.

If you're a nature lover , you just have to come here and experience it for yourself. Drive on the proper side of the road , the left, on almost deserted roads away from the towns. Council beach at Bafra nearby and lots of deserted beaches and coves in this area. mingle with the very friendly locals in nearby villages such as Iskele, and get a taste of what life's like here.

Even in November and December, temperatures still in 20's and sea temperatures still 25 degrees.

Bogaz / Iskele area

There are a half dozen fish restaurants at Bogaz Harbour area and one good value eateries literally 20 seconds from our villa. The harbour is just over 1 km and there are benches to sit on and a water fountain. Fishing or diving trips can be booked from here, as they can also be from Kyrenia, where there are trips to the mainland too. If you like Karaoke visit Bogaz Beach Bar. There is Supermarket next to the harbour, and a larger and newer Lemar supermarket another minutes drive towards Famagusta.

The swimming pool for our villa and five others is just outside and you have use of the Olympic pool just across the road as well. Loungers are provided for the Olympic pool and you can also be served cold drinks by the restaurant staff if you choose.

There is a golf course at Essentepe, about 45 mins drive, and a course is planned for our development in the future. If you come out of season, you will find it very relaxing and peaceful here, as very few others are on site then, you may have the pool to yourself. The ancient Roman city of Salamis is close by and the ruins cover over 1 square mile, well worth a visit. Turtles also come ashore on many beaches to lay their eggs at night.

How to get there

Monarch fly to Larnaca from Luton and transfers though border to North Cyprus usually £45 each way per party, transfer time 90 minutes. Airport transfers can be arranged. Easyjet now fly to Larnaca from Stanstead.

Many operators fly to Ercan in North including Cyprus Turkish Airlines and Pegasus from places such as Stanstead and Heathrow. Flight time about 4.5 hours. Thomsonfly also fly to Larnaca.

Car hire cheapest is Sevener-group.com and delivery and pick up free, if hiring for 7 days or more, but not latest vehicles though usually reliable. Typically have about 40,000 miles on clock.

Another good company is sunrentacar.com or birdrentacar.com is very efficient and cheap and reliable, run by ex-cop.

From April 1st. 2009, Easyjet will be flying to Larnaca from Gatwick, prices from £39.99 each way including all taxes and charges, check it out.

Further details indoors:
Television provided, but no package at present, though indoor aerial picks up couple of local stations.
DVD player provided. Olympic pool over road for all to use. Will be able to find a beach to yourself in North Cyprus as many unspoiled beaches around.

Property is only a few years old and all appliances practically unused. A gas hob and electric oven serve your cooking requirements but local restaurants very reasonable. Electric is 3 pin plugs 240 volt.

Further details outdoors:
A car not being essential as half dozen restaurants and supermarket all within 1 km at Bogaz Harbour, but worth hiring a car to explore the area. When you get out in the countryside it's like going back in time as so little traffic on roads, a real joy to drive and of course you drive on the left here too!

Property has garden surrounding it with some plants, and is fully fenced with a lockable gate. There is an outside hosepipe for plant watering, and outdoor electric point for upstairs terrace.

A barbecue grill is in evidence but guests may need to provide gas themselves (green bottle). There is a patio area outside where guests can sit out as table and six chairs provided and is partly shaded.

A hard standing area for one car is provided off road.

Castles at St Hillarion, Kyrenia and Kantara nearby are well worth exploring. Sea fishing or Lake fishing in one of reservoirs can be done, but need a permit for the lakes.

Beer only about £1 a pint , though on the rise in many places and food especially fruit and veg. quite cheap. Exchange rate still very good against the Turkish Lira, not so with Euro, so come to North Cyprus, where your money goes further.

Further details

Refundable breakages deposit required in advance. Children to be kept under control as breakages need to be payed for. Guests should treat property with respect as it was their own.

A local keyholder resides nearby in case of any problems or queries during your stay.

It would of course be appreciated if guests take extreme care with drinks when seated in the lounge area as stains on furnishings could be very difficult , if not impossible to remove from soft furnishings.
