The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

This is possibly the most picturesque portion of the Turkish coast. The best way to see the coast is to hire one of the beautiful teak Turkish yachts called Gulets. Here you can meander around the dozens of deserted islands, catch a fish and barbecue it on the beach. Alternatively go for a day trip to one of the many Greek islands nearby. The nearest is Kos which is around 1 hour away by ferry from Bodrum.
The Bodrum / Yalikavak area
A visit to Bodrum castle is a must see. A superb example of 15th century Frankish architecture. Bodrum itself is a bohemian, cosmopolitan city which has a huge array of places to see and things to do. If clubbing is your scene then Halikarnas open air disco club is the largest in Europe. Just a few kilometres from Yalikavak at Gundogan is the submerged ancient city of Myndos. It is also possible to walk across the bay to Rabbit Island at low tide.
There are also regular concerts and festivals at the outdoor amphitheatre at the Marina in Yalikavak.

As soon as we arrived at the airport somebody was waiting for us to bring us to the villa. At the villa he showed us the house, told us where we could find shops, the beach, restaurants. The accomodation was really great. The guy who took care for it, Ulas, came later to check if everything was all right, we saw him several times that week, really friendly and helpfull. Yalikavak is in fact a small village, very nice, worth to come back what we will do in a few years. We had a great holiday, place for ourselves with a nice pool, in fact for us we enjoy this much more than staying in some hotel. |

We contacted the owner via holiday letting and due to flights from Bristol were unable to do a conventional week (sat->sat) but the owner was very understanding and allowed us a flexible stay to meet our needs. The villa itself was perfect (2 couples went), modern on the inside, well equipped kitchen with all utensils etc, washing machine etc if needed, a loverly L-shaped sofa was nice, along with TV. Both bedrooms had modern en suites and there was a further toilet / shower room downstairs. The outside of the property is exactly like the photos. The pool was perfect, and had sun loungers round the outside. The pool was at the rear of the property and in a more secluded location meant it was perfect for sunbathing. It was about a ten minute walk to the beach / town, which has lots of traditional turkish shops and a great fruit market. There are loads of restaurants along the waterfront / beach for all different cuisines etc. Easy transfer from the airport, we arranged this ourselves and was very reasonable (about 45 minute transfer) and is a very pretty drive along the coast. We did some day trips too with great water for snorkling and showed the villa in a greta location. Highly recommended and the owner was very helpful. |

This is a modern villa, on a large corner plot. It has air con in both bedrooms and in the living room. The outside space is fantastic, the terrace is great for eating and this leads down to a large pool surrounded by the sunloungers. The pool is cleaned every day by the agents who are first class. The villa is situated in a residential area, less than 15 min walk into the centre of Yalikavak.A 5 min walk from the villa takes you to a small corner shop which sells fresh roasted chicken, across the road from the shop is a bakery.Yalikavak is a lovely resort, the locals are extremely friendly and unlike some other resorts in Turkey they will not hassle you in any way. The restaurants of which there are many, are first class, you can eat out , overlooking the bay for under £40 for 4 adults.Yalikavak has no night clubs and only a couple of small bars , it is a great place to chill out and relax. |
