Yalikavak town, a former fishing and sponge divers village is 17 kilometres from Bodrum town. It has around 6,800 permanent residents. The fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and other water sports, and attracts many foreign yachts to its harbour. Yalikavak is renowned for its superb sunsets, unspoilt shorelines and sparkling clean seas. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.

Bodrum / Yalikavak area
Yalikavak used to be an old fishing harbour but has now been dubbed the St Tropez of the Bodrum Peninsula with its new multi-million pound marina. It's a small busy centre. The restaurants in the town centre and on the seafront are popular with locals and tourists alike.
Yalıkavak impresses with its combination of alluring traditional charm and its recognition of the importance of contemporary comforts. Making the town attractive to those who cherish both the old and the new. The town is neat and tidy; many ageing buildings having undergone sensitive restoration and conversion to modern use, one being an old water cistern converted to a gallery displaying the work of well-known local and national artists.

Getting around Bodrum and Travelling further afield

Minibus (Dolmus) and Local Buses: Minibus services to outlying villages leave from bus station. Turgutreis and Yalikavak Municipalities run buses between Turgutreis-Yalikavak and Bodrum.
