About the home

If you are looking for an ‘away from it all’ holiday this beautifully presented villa offers the privacy and seclusion you may be seeking. It is 1 of just 3 properties set in exceptionally well maintained gardens on the outskirts of the beautiful fishing village of Yalikavak on the Bodrum Peninsula. The very private pool and sunbathing decks offer both shade and sun, just perfect for a relaxing holiday.

For families or friends wishing to holiday together, but want their own privacy, the villa next to this one is also available for rent (sleeps 6). Please contact us for details.

Facilities

Further details indoors:
The villa has been furnished and equipped to the highest standards by its English owners. As soon as you enter, you will feel comfortable with the smart, luxury surroundings which greet you. Just inside the entrance hall is a cloakroom with WC and wash basin. From here, the hall takes you to the light, bright and airy, lounge-living room/dining and kitchen areas – all open plan style. Two sets of French windows open up onto the covered balcony overlooking the pool in one direction and olive tree clad fields towards the sea and Yalikavak, in the other. The lounge/living room has stylish comfy sofas and chairs to recline into, a coffee table, fire place (not that this will be used during the hot summer months), TV with freeview satellite (some English channels), DVD player and Hi Fi unit. The internal dining area again, which will not be used frequently during the summer months, has a table and chairs for 4.

The large kitchen area is fitted with granite work surfaces and a range of high quality wall cupboards and base units, an oven and hob, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. A kettle, toaster etc plus everything you require for a self-catering holiday is provided in the cupboards.

Bedrooms – 2 air conditioned - Both have en-suite bathrooms:
Bedroom 1 (Master) - the master bedroom is a large room and has a King size double bed, bedside cabinets, dressing table, wardrobes and en-suite bathroom with a bath. This room has two balconies, a small one opening onto the side gardens and a large one onto the main balcony, providing magnificent views across the fields towards Yalikavak and the blue Aegean.

Bedroom 2 – another good sized room which has matching single beds, bedside cabinets, dresser, wardrobes, lamps etc and en-suite shower room. Again, French doors open onto the large balcony with views over the gardens and pool to your right and the fields towards Yalikavak and the sea to your left.

A cot is available for young children. All bedrooms have air conditioning and sea views.

Cloakroom - at entrance level. With WC and wash basin.

Other - hair dryer, outside table, chairs, sun loungers.

Cleaning & laundry - fresh bed linen and towels are provided. A washing machine is available for guests' use if required. However, washing and ironing facilities are provided by on-site staff at an additional cost. The villa will be cleaned on arrival and departure and for two week (or more) stays, a once a week clean is included in the price. Should you wish a mid-week clean, this can be arranged for an additional charge - please contact us for costs. Beach towels are not provided.

Further details outdoors:
There are two sea-facing terraces, one at living room level and one at bedroom level. Double French doors open up from the internal dining and kitchen areas to a terrace which spans the width of the villa, just perfect for breakfast and al fresco dining at nights. Watching the stars and twinkling lights of Yalikavak from here is a delight itself.

Gardens – are truly amazing. We have to say these gardens are some of the best kept we have seen. In summer, they are a riot of colour with the lawns and shrubs clipped and proudly shaped.

Pool - the pool is located down a few steps in front of the villa. Here, you will find sun loungers, sunshades, table and chairs etc for your pleasure and relaxation. A sundeck surrounds the pool and beyond that, the lawns which provide plenty of space for sunbathing, or shady reading! There is also a poolside changing room and WC. Please note: The pool is also available for other guests who may be staying at one of the other properties on this private development. It is never busy and you may find that you could be the only guests using it.

Car hire – for this villa, a car is not essential as you can easily walk into Yalikavak centre within 10 minutes. There are many shops, restaurants, bars etc here, as well as the Marina, banks and ATM machines,taxi rank and buses into Bodrum. However, if you wish to explore the many towns and villages the Bodrum Peninsula has to offer, you may decide a car would be useful for a day or so during your stay. If you need assistance with car hire or airport transfer, then we have arrangements with local companies for these services. Please enquire.

Shop/Bakal - there is a small mini-market, shop (Bakal in Turkish) a 5 minute walk away from the villa and bakers, for fresh bread, another 5 minutes further.

Market - Each Thursday, Yalikavak hosts a large vendor's market with a range of fruit, vegetables, olives, cheeses, herbs and spices for sale on one side of the road and clothing, souvenirs etc on the other. Worth a visit as its a very colourful sight. The market is a 5 to 8 minute walk away.

Banks/supermarkets/petrol stations etc. Yalikavak centre is a 10 minute walk away. Here you will find several banks, Garanti & Finansbank are two good ones, these have ATMs. Large supermarkets, Carrefour, Migros and Tansas can also be found on the outskirts of Yalikavak, whereas just outside Bodrum (Ortakent area) there is a very large Kipa (Tesco) and next door, Metro (Makro) cash and carry - visitors can apply for a day pass for the latter.

Local shops (mini markets or Bakals as they are known in Turkey) can be found almost everywhere and are open late at nights. Petrol stations - again in Yalikavak near the large supermarkets above or on the main road out of Yalikavak to Bodrum.

Conditions

Change over days are flexible. Length of stay also flexible.

Unless prearranged, guests are requested to vacate the property by 10.00am on day of departure and arrival is after 4pm. If the villa is not booked prior to your arrival and departure, then we can be flexible on arrival/departure times

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The Bodrum Peninsula - Aegean coast
On the Bodrum Peninsula buildings are not permitted to be built more than 2 stories high, and there are no buildings higher than 3 stories in the whole Peninsula. This tends to make the area look particularly attractive. Most of the buildings are white washed cubes, similar to those in the Greek Islands. This is because this part of Turkey used to belong to Greece and some of the Greek Islands used to belong to Turkey. As you can imagine, there is a lot of history around the area.

History
Archaeological excavations have established that human habitation in the Yalikavak area began in around 2000BC, and there are ruins and artefacts from the Carian, Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman eras. The historic sites such as Sandima, Pasanda (Geris), Kandiba and Termil (Dirmil/Gökçebel) attract visitors from all over the world. Yalikavak is famous for the numerous windmills found in the vicinity. The winds, that until recently turned the vanes of these working windmills, now fill the sails of boats and windsurfs. Another “typical” feature found in abundance here are domed water cisterns which, in the past, were used in times of drought and are now being adapted for artistic and cultural uses.

Further afield you can visit Ephesus, the largest archaeological site in the world, the stunning pools at Pamukkale, the royal rock tombs at Dalyan, and the temple of Apollo at Didim.

The Bodrum / Yalikavak area

Yalikavak, 18 km away from Bodrum centre on the north western tip of the Bodrum Peninsula, has grown in size over recent years, but remains still very much a place where the locals welcome holiday makers with open arms. The permanent inhabitants of Yalikavak number around 6,800 people.

Yalikavak is becoming ever more popular as an alternative resort to Bodrum. The small harbour is surrounded by restaurants and bars, and while there is the occasional disco bar, the general atmosphere is quiet, unhurried and relaxed, yet further along the shoreline is a new sophisticated Marina.

Approaching Yalikavak from Bodrum you cannot help but notice the stunning panoramic view of Yalikavak Bay. This fertile coastal region is ideal for sailing and all water sports and attracts many foreign yachts to the Marina and old harbour that once sheltered mainly fishing boats.

Fishing & Seafood
Yalikavak still supports a thriving fishing industry and the restaurants around the picturesque harbour display a wide selection of fresh fish every day. The town is known for its excellent seafood restaurants - try Sait, you won't be disappointed.

Shopping & Market
There are many shops in the traffic free centre, selling local wares and tourist items.
Every Thursday there is a colourful weekly market split in 2 halves. Clothes, textiles and traditional Turkish wares on one side, and the other with fruit, vegetables, great choices of olives, herbs and spices.

Marina
Just a few minutes walk along the shoreline from the centre of Yalikvak is the new Marina. The Marina is home to many large yachts and is visited by yachts from all over the world in summer. It has stylish shops and several restaurants and cafes, plus a seaside 2,500 seater Amphitheatre used for open air concerts and fashion shows during the summer months.

Beaches
The main beach in Yalikavak is long and narrow and lined with a few restaurants. It is easy to sit back and not worry where your next drink or meal will come from! Yalikavak's beach is never busy and you won't be sandwhiched in amongst sun loungers. Away from the harbour end of town, the quieter the beach becomes. Yalikavak is always said to be a little cooler in the summer than other parts of the region due to the gentle offshore breezes. Whereas Bodrum is hot, in all respects, in summer.

Yalikavak is renowned for its superb sunsets and unspoilt shoreline. Its sparkling clean sea is one of the few remaining abodes of the endangered “Monachus Monachus” Mediterranean seals and therefore a protected area. In 2002 Yalikavak Bay was awarded the "Blue Flag" for its clean waters.

Private Transfers - can be arranged by a fully licensed company we work with, please contact us for information. The driver knows the location of all our properties and can also hand over the key. Each way cost: £55 for up to 4 people, £8 per additional person.

Taxi - A taxi from Bodrum airport to Yalikavak will cost approx £50 each way for up to 3 people.
