About the home

The apartment is on the first floor of a small block in the grounds of the Flamingo Country Club. There is a master bedroom with double bed , a second bedroom with 2 single beds, 2 bathrooms (one being en-suite with the master bedroom), large combined kitchen living room with dining and sitting areas including a settee which converts to a double bed.The apartment also includes the roof terrace which occupies the whole of the second floor. There is a spacious south facing balcony which leads off the living room and overlooks one of the many swimming pools on the complex and beyond that the blue Aegean Sea. Bar facilities, golf club hire and wi-fi internet access are available at the main Club house.

The rear of the apartment offers amazing views of Tuzla Lake to which flamingoes flock at certain times of the year, hence the name of the club. The apartment is about 0.25 km. from the new beach club down by the sea via the new cable car connection, and the same distance from the club house and pool going towards the lake. Next to the club house is the tennis court and 6-hole golf course, and golf clubs and balls are available for hire.

There is air-conditioning to the living room and two bedrooms which can be individually controlled per room, and should the weather turn cold (a somewhat unlikely event!) switched to provide warm air. There are a couple of tennis rackets at the apartment, which guests are welcome to use, but please remember to put these back. the apartment normally accommodates up to 4 persons, but use of the bed-settee in the living room can increase this to 6. For even larger parties, we invite you to make a simultaneous booking of our other apartment on the complex at 16 Violet (Home 83805).

Further details outdoors:
In addition to the tennis court and small golf course near the club pool, there is an indoor pool, fitness centre and Turkish bath. For groceries etc. there is a shop above the club house, and outside the complex there is another shop about 300 yards on the road leading to Bodrum.

Bodrum town is about 32km. away and, if you don't have your own transport, can be reached either by the private club shuttle service, or the public coach which passes the club entrance. Golfers will be pleased to know that about 10 minutes away, on the other side of Tuzla Lake, is the new Vita Park Golf Club providing both 18 hole and 9 hole golf courses. Bogazici village on the shores of Mandalya Bay, is about 4 km. away and well worth a visit for its fish restaurants.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Tuzla lies on Turkey's Aegean coast which is its most westerly and reckoned to be its most beautiful and varied. A couple of long peninsulas push out towards the very close Greek islands of Kalimnos and Kos to which day trips from Bodrum are available.

This part of Turkey has a meditteranean climate i.e. long, hot dry summers, mild winters with some rain, and short warm springs and autumns. Average temperatures range from 20C (68F) in April to 32C (90F) in August and back to 24C(75F) in October. Gumbet and Bitez just outside of Bodrum have good beaches and a trip to Gumusluk at the end of the Bodrum peninsula is worth undertaking to see the sunken ruins of ancient Mindos.

The Bodrum / Lake Tuzla area

Tuzla Lake has been an internationally protected nature reserve since 1994 and lies at the end of a deep inlet from the Gulf of Gulluk and Mandalya Bay and is close to the traditional fishing village of Bogazici whose restaurants are worth a visit.

The village is the site of the ancient city of Bargilia and ruins including a Roman temple can be seen scattered around. A trip to famous Ephesus just up the coast will reveal even more spectacular ruins. Bodrum town (the ancient city of Halicarnassus) lies 32 km. to the south and is home to the tomb of King Mausolus, one of the 7 wonders of the ancient world, and also Bodrum Castle built by the knights of St.John in 1408.

Fly to Bodrum airport and then go by coach, taxi or hire car to Flamingo Country Club, Tuzla which is approximately 15 km. away. Alternatively, fly to Dalaman airport which is approximately 175 km. away. Cars can be hired at the airports, but please remember to take both parts of your driving licence. For cheapest car hire deals, book in advance on the internet. Upon request we can arrange taxi connection from or to airport from approx. £30 per journey (Bodrum) and £120 (Dalaman).
