Home description
The fully air-conditioned penthouse accommodation is furnished to a high standard throughout, with plenty of storage space for your holiday attire. The air-conditioning keeps the apartment cool, or warm if you are there in the cooler months. The spacious comfortably furnished lounge and dining area has a granite worktop kitchen with oven/hob, which has a good fan to remove any cooking odour.
The East facing breakfast balcony has an upland vista and at sunrise, breakfast can be enjoyed watching the cows and chickens, and there is an owl in the area. At times the house martins are swooping and diving around busily feeding on the wing. On the seaward side of the building the main terrace leading off the lounge has outstanding views of the marina and the many islands that are along this stretch of the coast.
The Greek islands of Kos and Kalimnos are large on the left as you face the sea, and ahead is the lovely Sabanci Gardens and Restaurant perched right on the edge of the sea. Here, as in many places, you can take an evening meal that remains comfortably warm either inside or out until you feel it is time to get some sleep. It is these islands that enhance the amazing sunsets that are enjoyed on most evenings. If you want a quick way to get to one of the best beaches in the peninsular, stand by the gates of Sabanci and hold up your hand for the bus going in the direction of Akyarlar (westwards) and ask to go to Bitez beach, you will not be disappointed.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The town of Turgutreis is situated at the tip of the historic Bodrum Peninsular with fantastic sunsets overlooking a view of the ornamental islands on the horizon. Named after the famous admiral Turgutreis, this is a ‘stroll’ town in its own right and combines a compact town centre with several long sandy beaches. It is 45 minutes from Bodrum airport and 25 minutes from Bodrum town. The town has all the cafes, restaurants, bars and shops to enable the holidaymaker to sample the Turkish fare. The Bodrum Peninsular has many inlets and bays and by travelling along the coastal roads or by using the trips from the marina the visitor can take daily trips to the many different villages either northerly or southerly to get the best camera shots of the stunning geological formations which years ago boiled up to make this rugged coastline. The excellent minibuses called Dolmus are a reliable and cheap way to get to the other villages on this remarkable coastline and are operational all day from Turgutreis to Bodrum and other towns often for less than a pound. No other area on the Turkish Aegean coast provides the visitor with the opportunity to experience Turkish life only a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle of a modern tourist centre. One of the unique of features the area is the combination of daytime activities, tranquil bays, beaches and villages to enjoy, and the Nightlife of Turgutreis and Bodrum. There are 14 Turkish islands around the area as well as the Greek islands Kos and Kalimnos.

Local Facilities Internet Access: There are several internet cafes in the town. If you have a laptop, wireless connection is available for free at the name located 3 minutes walk from the apartment,at the bottom of the hill, opposite the fence of Sabanci Gardens, by the general stores.The main bus (Dolmus) station is in the centre of town behind a major supermarket called Migross. A smaller supermarket called Tansas is en route from the apartment.
Things to do The Marina is about a fifteen minute walk towards the town and the beach. From here you will find sailing, water skiing, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing and swimming. Close by is cycle hire, and a theatre/cinema, restaurants and shopping. A short distance from the centre of town you will find golf, tennis, horse riding, a theme park, a sports centre and a short ride on the Dolmus, historic sites. Visits to other places of interest such can be done either by Boat or Dolmus. A very large market takes place on Saturdays which is very useful if you arrive on the Friday. We are sorry that pets are not allowed and that no smoking is the rule.
General Pickup from Bodrum Airport is available for £25, and you will be met by a man holding up a card with your name upon it at any time of arrival, day or night. He will take you directly to the apartment car park, carry your luggage, open the door and introduce you to the kitchen and air conditioning, (when was the last time you had your luggage carried for you?).The same arrangement can be made available when leave to go home. The Surtas (pronounced ‘Soytash’) properties are built on an area of land that has its own well for the water supply and we are therefore not so likely to have danger of a water shortage as other places in Turgutreis. However, as with other parts of the world we would ask you to be careful in its usage.
Trips There are many places to go on a daily basis. Some interesting ones are as follows:
Take the Dolmus to Gumusluk and take a short walk along the local shore, then back to the village for a swim to work up an appetite for a delicious locally caught fish lunch. Take a small boat to visit Rabbit Island in the bay and then go a little further out in the direction the you have just come, round Kisil Cape and you will see Kadicalesi, a very pleasant place to walk to along the newly built promenade between Turgutreis and Kadicalesi.
A bit more northerly, the town of Yalikavak is another interesting place which has a large bay producing an array of the most delicious fish. A central attraction is to sit at a table right on the edge of the water with waiter service that is second to none. The octopus is so tasty.
Those visitors who like to be on the sea will like the trip to the Greek Island of Cos, this can be booked beforehand or you can just turn up.

Further details indoors: A large fridge/freezer keeps your food fresh, and if you choose to have a welcome pack you will find that it is already in the unit. The microwave is useful when you need something cooked in a hurry. Of course there is a kettle, toaster, cutlery and all the equipment that a kitchen needs. The large boiler provides a constant supply of piping hot hot water. The large lounge/diner has a two and a three seater settee and an indoor set of table and chairs. Two sets of table and chairs are supplied so that there is no need to move furniture in and out to suit the temperature changes during the day and evening.
The bedding is good quality and is chosen to ensure that you get a good night’s sleep. If ever you wish to have more pillows or blankets, please contact us on the number given.The washing machine will enable you to use the iron, ironing board and the clothes dryer. There is a TV and DVD for news and entertainment.
There are three bedrooms: one double, one twin which can be brought together if you ask for it to be a double bed, and one single. This gives room for five people. The bathroom houses a large mirrored vanity unit, a toilet and the large shower section.

Philip says: "The property was excellent. The pool was superb. It has air-con throughout which made a great difference in the nights. Can't speak too highly about the apartment as a whole. The view to the Turkish and Greek Islands was one of the best I've ever seen. As a previous reviewer has stated the taxis are about £2.00 sterling into Turgutreis. I'm planning to go back to the same apartment again in September. The arranged airport transfers were on time, and the property manager Kagan and consultant we dealt with, Aykan Ince, was very helpful. Aykan came to the apartment on our first evening in Turgutreis to give us advice on where to go which was appreciated. Again, I'd really recommend the apartment. By the way, try the La'pikant Restaurant down the marina for a meal and watch the sunset. Have a chat with Selim. He's a good guy. Top place. Top apartment."
