Home description
The house is situated up a leafy drive in a small select cluster of houses directly opposite the gendarma in Torba, only a two minute walk from the beach and the bus stop, and seconds away from the communal swimming pool. There is a large olive tree at the front which offers welcome shade to the patio in the summer months along with the vine clad pergola. There are two sunny double bedrooms upstairs, one with a double bed and a balcony, the other with twin beds, plus the bathroom. Both bedrooms have a sea view. There is a third back bedroom downstairs situated directly opposite the downstairs wash room. This room currently contains one single bed although it could possibly accommodate two people. Downstairs there is a cosy front room with a working fireplace and a comfortable three piece suite, the sofa of which can convert into a sofa bed if required. This room opens into the modern, well-fitted kitchen. (The washing machine is upstairs outside the bathroom). Double doors from the kitchen open into the sunny dining room which looks out onto the patio.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
A holiday on the Bodrum peninsular with its clear turquoise waters is a must for families, couples or individuals - it has something to offer everyone. You are really spoilt for choice : as well as the traditional delights of swimming, water sports and boat trips, you can also visit many archaeological sites such as Ephesus and Pamukkali. Pamper yourself and visit one of the local Turkish baths (hamams) or maybe catch the morning ferry over to Kos. The climate on the Bodrum peninsular is perfect : no humidity and non-stop sunshine from May to October, with an average summer temp. Of 30 degrees. Temperatures of 40 degrees are not unknown in August, although prevailing breezes wafting the Northern part of the peninsular keep it pleasant. From November till February you can still expect 12-15C which is still very mild. Blue skies and sun are guaranteed for most of the year. The region is called the Turquoise Coast due to the fabulous azure colour of the sea, a deep penetrating blue which will grip your heart and stay in your memory long after you have departed. It is indisputably one of the most beautiful stretches of coastline anywhere in Turkey, with dramatic mountain scenery and glorious beaches. The local people are renowned for their warmth and hospitality and the whole region exudes an exotic eastern charm which you will not find in other parts of Europe. The area if full of pretty low rise whitewashed buildings adorned with colourful bougainvillea cascading over the side of the houses. Palm trees, oleanders, and tropical style plants are in abundance throughout the local area. At night Bodrum comes alive with all the bars, discos and restaurants staying open ‘til late. A bus service runs between Torba and Bodrum every ten minutes during the summer months , until the early hours of the morning, so there is no problem about getting home late in the evening. Bodrum is very cosmopolitan and is a haven for many artists, painters and sculptors. International restaurants sit alongside the many Turkish ones, but the local food is delicious and the fish some of the best you will find anywhere. Market days in Bodrum are Tuesdays (general) and Fridays (fruit and veg.) The markets are fun places to visit and haggling is the norm – but don’t try and beat the stallholder down too far – remember he has to earn a living too!
Bodrum / Torba area
Torba is a delightful fishing village with excellent eating facilities and water sports and is one of the most beautiful and green parts of the Bodrum Peninsula. It is situated on the north-eastern coast and is the closest of all the holiday locations on the peninsular to the airport - a mere 25 minute journey. A quiet and restful place, it provides an excellent opportunity to explore and absorb the lifestyle and culture of the region in the tiny villages dotted along the coast. Torba has its own sand and pebble beach’s that offer a relaxing seafront experience and yet it is only a ten minute bus or car ride from the vibrant town of Bodrum (the St. Tropez of the Turkish Riviera) where you can add some pizzazz to your holiday in the exciting bars and nightclubs that populate the town. For anyone with an interest in the heritage and culture of Turkey, the entire region is blessed with some extraordinary sites of historical interest. Bodrum itself is built on the site of the ancient city of Halicarnassus and features the remains of one of the seven wonders of the ancient world, the tomb of King Mausolus. Torba is a great place to visit to experience an authentic taste of Turkey in picturesque, quiet surroundings within easy reach of the excitement of Bodrum. During your stay in Torba, you may like to sample the delights of the exclusive Club Voyager, which is just a two minute stroll down the hill. For a very reasonable sum, you can spend a whole day at the Club, starting with breakfast from their fabulous buffet, and choose whether to stay for both lunch and dinner, and then sample all the club's many facilities, including the hamam. (Highly recommended).

Just to let you know that we had a fab time in Turkey and the house was just wonderful. Very homely and heaps of room for us all. Thank you again so much for sharing it with us.
Jess Barrett & family September 2008
We had a fantastic time from start to end; we loved the house, the area and Bodrum. The complex was great and we loved the tranquility of it; we saw a few familiar faces in the pool, but it was generally quiet. There were some very nice Turkish people staying next door and it was great not hearing any British voices. The Dolmuses were terrific, and took all the hassle out of transport. It was great not having to drive.
We thought Torba suited us well; we liked the beaches and we loved having the pontoons to dive from and access to food and drink on the beach. We did a lot of the watersports from Torba and got to know them all really well; they were great people.
In the middle of the holiday we did 2 days in Ephesus and Pamukkale, which was great and the excursion proved to be good value. We also did the Turkish Village Tour and had a Turkish bath and a back massage. The last 2 were free as a result of getting the larger excursion from Director Tours which we would recommend to your future guests.
All in all we had a terrific time and thanks again

Just to let you know we had a fantastic holiday! We all really enjoyed staying in your house - it was lovely..a real haven of peace. The patio was a fantastic place to chill out and enjoy some al fresco dining. We used the pool everyday and more or less had it to ourselves which was incredible!! We managed to do quite a lot, explored all of the peninsula and beyond, visited Ephesus, aqua park and boat trip as well as numerous lovely meals out by the sea.

As for your house Barbara. ...I absolutely loved it .what peace...what a lovely get away. The location is so lovely, a lovely development and i would say yours is probably one of the best properties in terms of its position and outlook. Turkey is such a lovely country. If I ever were to think about retiring abroad I would definitely go for Turkey before Spain, Portugal etc.
Julia - July/August 2008
Thank you for organising the transfers, both worked out no problems and makes a big difference getting door to door service! Over all we had a brilliant time, fantastic location, constant blue sky and sun, gorgeous blue sea, stunning views. Bodrum on the doorstep if you so desired but plenty of lovely restaurants in Torba as well! The house was very quaint and a fantastic size for the value, especially if you had 6 people sleeping in it!
Thank you so much again for everything Yours gratefully, Cat MacLennan July 2008
