About the home

Lovely penthouse property on top floor of 3. Despite being very low cost there is no 'catch', just great value for money. So much included. Great views, and nice terrace. 20 mins from airport, and 25 mins to Bodrum. Regular shuttle bus to Bodrum.

Several swimming pools plus one for the whole community. Gym, indoor pool, sauna, outdoor activities - tennis,club,.golf, chess, walking etc. Free monorail to Beach.. Juliet balcony off main bedroom, and nice terrace for alfresco dining overlooking country lake. 2 bathrooms. Fresh breezes off sea. Use of facilities on 3 sites free. .

Roof terrace has all round views of country and sea. Free monorail to beach and pier. Fantastic sunsets over sea. Shuttle to Bodrum. So much going on here!! This is an official 5* resort, where you can meet others quite easily

Use of 3 sites - areas for younger guests, quieter areas for less young guests.

Smoking ok outside, if cleaned up. Steps to gain access, so Ok if you are fit, but not suitable if infirm and cannot walk or manage stairs.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Climate:
The weather is this region is fantastic, from April until October temparatures will go from 25 C to 35 C in July and August. From November till February you can still expect 12-15C which is still very pleasant. Generally Bodrum has a dry and sunny climate long into Autumn. Lovely coastal walks around the peninsula.

History:
As a place where people have lived continuously for thousands of years Bodrum has an incredibly rich past. Its position in or near so many of the great civilization and events of ancient history also makes Halicarnassus (Bodrum's ancient name) an important site for historians. Finding one source of complete historical information on Bodrum is apparently impossible, so the account that follows is a distillation from several sources.

Herodotus, the "Father of History", was born in Halicarnassus... The first settlement in this area which left structural evidence behind was on the rocky little island where the Castle of St. Peter now stands (the castle was once completely surrounded by water). When the Knights of St. John arrived to build their fortress, they found the ruins of an older castle, now known to have been built by the Dorians around 1100 BC.

The Bodrum / Tuzla area

Flamingo Country Club is located in the Bodrum Peninsula, 15 minutes from Bodrum-Milas International Airport, 25 minutes from Bodrum and 15 minutes from Gulluck.

The resort overlooks Tuzla Lake on one side and the Aegean Sea on the other. Tuzla Lake lies in the natural harbour of Madalya and close to the traditional fishing village of Bogazici.
There is a brand new 18 and 9 hole golf course
A shuttle bus runs from the resort to Bodrum Town. However, you may find a car helpful for at least some of the time for the extra frreedom to explore the many villages, beaches, local sites - car hire easily arranged onsite.

The Bodrum Peninsula is situated on the South-West coast of Turkey in the eastern Aegean. Things to do and see in the area include:

Bodrum boasts an historic past which should be discovered, including:

“Highly recommend - lovely apartment, stunning views and great price” My boyfriend and I stayed in the apartment for one week in late June 2011. David was very helpful before we got there, and on arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find him and his wife were on the same flight and so very kindly offered us a lift to the apartment (even without this fortuitous meeting it is easy enough to arrange a transfer from the airport). When we opened the door to the apartment we were very pleased – the apartment has a lovely living space and kitchen area which was perfect for us. On venturing further into the apartment our smiles widened, particularly on throwing open the doors and finding ourselves surrounded by fantastic views and a pool very close by (it was raining a bit when we arrived, go figure, but this did not stop the views being stunning or the pool appealing). Both bedrooms were very clean with plenty of cupboard space, hangers and an en suite in the double room. The kitchen was well equipped, although only has a hob and not an oven (a perfect excuse to eat out most nights), and the fridge was stocked with milk, bread, cheese, jam and tomatoes which we found to be a lovely touch. The site itself has many pools to choose from, and the week we went was still relatively quiet. This suited us as it meant that we could pretty much find a pool to ourselves. The shuttles to the beaches are very easy – we tried two beaches and although not sandy we found they did the job. We ate in the resort most nights – I would recommend the ocean view bar for a pre or post dinner drink, and I would also recommend the Sunset view restaurant and bar. I'm vegetarian and they were very accommodating. We didn't hire a car but hopped on the dolmus to Bodrum a couple of times which was enjoyable as it took us on a scenic, but sometimes daunting, route. Cost 6 lira per person each way so not too bad. I was happy not having a car for a week, but I think next time would hire one so we could explore the local area a bit more. Overall a lovely place to stay for a very reasonable price, and the deposit was returned very promptly which was a brilliant final touch.

Would we go back again?? Absolutely - We have just returned from Flamingo Country Club. We were not sure what to expect as we have always travelled all inclusive before so haven't tried either apartment or self catering holidays, and have always gone through a travel company rather than book through English owners.
Our worries were completely unfounded, the owners DRW Properties (Springsunshine Ltd) were fantastic.
On arrival which was under 20 minutes from the airport, we found our apartment to be home from home. Furnished to a very high standard it completely suited to our needs.
The views were breath taking, and the complex facilities excellent with everything from, supermarket, mini golf, spa, excellent dining facilities from pool snacks to a superb 3 course meal, as well as a mini bus service to take you round the four sites and a multitude of various pools.
Each one offers a different facitlity Turquiose and Flamingo geared for families and Royal Heights for a more adult theme with it's infinity pool and fantastic spa facility.
It is true it is a quite far away from civilisation and a car is very useful (we didnt take the right paper work!) but there is a regular dolmus that takes you to Bodrum every hour.
Another useful tip is there is no ATM facility on site so be prepared but you can pay by card in most places.
The staff at Flamingo and Royal Heights were fantastic, a special mention to Nuri at Flamingo who made our holiday.
We ate out several times, at Royal Heights and a Turkish night specially put on at Flamingo all of which were excellent, and I had a morning in the Spa which was heaven!!
At times it was a lot quieter than we anticipated for such a big site but all the people we met were very friendly and our teen age son made friends quite easily.
Perhaps the supermarkets could be stocked a little better, and it would be very easy to put on some kind of evening entertainment in each site particularly for those with younger families.
Would be recommend it, absolutely, will we be booking again, definately!!
