Home description
This apartments location is fantastic as you can dictate your own theme such as visiting, by boat, the village of Iasos lying at the head of the ancient gulf of Mandalya, where you will find an interesting and unspoiled archaeological site that is a mixture of Greek, Roman and Crusader ruins; or stay and relax in Gulluk with its fine walks and restaurants within the bay which are well known for their excellent fresh fish and general cuisine.
For others there is the short trip to Bodrum where there are restaurants and discos lined around the stunning marina.
We ourselves, for example, stay in Gulluk and relax taking trips to Bodrum to visit the market on Fridays and stroll around the marina. We have also taken advantage of the day trips across to the Greek Island of Kos and have even taken trips along the coast from Bodrum that are offered along the marina.
The theme is yours fast or slow - simply enjoy as there is something for everyone and also great for winter breaks.

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
A holiday in Bodrum, Turkey with its clear turquoise waters is a must for families, couples or individuals - it has something to offer everyone. Bodrum has the best climate, no humidity and six months non-stop sunshine (May - October) with not one drop of rain. It is little wonder the old Greeks and Romans liked it so much - there is simply no winter as November to April is just right - great for November & December winter breaks.
Bodrum is an ancient city with a long history and places of interest are numerous. It is thought to be founded around 1,000BC (Halicarnassos, Halicarnassus) by Dorian settlers from Greece. Later the city became part of the Hexapolic Union, known as the Dorian league it was then captured by the Lydians in the first half of the 6th century BC and then by the Persians in 546 BC but it did not stop there in 377 BC Mausolos, the most famous of the Carian satrapies, took control before it was conquered by Alexander the Great and later became a naval base for the Lagos Dynasty of Egypt. In 192 BC, the city became a Roman colony and history has just rolled on until the Knights of Rhodes constructed Bodrum Castle - the Castle of St. Peter. The castle, with its English, French and German towers is today the symbol of the town. Oh don't forget the Ottoman rule 1522 AD. I am breathless - visit Bodrum and research it all - it will not let you down.
Although the castle that dominates the retaurant lined harbour the Mausoleum is Bodrums oldest antiquity and was built by Artemisia II in honour of her husband King Mausolos. I have not mentioned Myndus gate Located on the west side of Bodrum, this is one of the two entrances of ancient Halicarnassus.
The Amphi-theatre is another highlight to the great past of Bodrum. Situated in the hillside over looking Bodrum this theatre whose capacity is around 13.000 was built during te Carian reign in the Hellenistic age (330 - 30 BC.).
Bodrum / Gulluk area
With sea temperatures ranging from 16 to 25 degrees between summer and winter, Bodrum and Gulluk are a great location for a diving holiday at any time of the year, there are a variety of dives in sheltered seas and with visibility averaging 20 metres. Prices are competitive and equipment is available for hire; instructors speak English, French, German and of course Turkish so the area offers something for both beginner and advanced divers. There are two main reefs off the coast with depths of between 6 and 32 metres.
Horse-riding and river-rafting can be done just a little distance from Bodrum. For those who like to be really adventurous, there are Jet skis or you might even fancy Parasailing. Jeep-Safaris are offered by many companies now also.
Aqua parks: Just recently an Aqua park has been opened the Dedeman Aqua park.
Times are over when you had to search in Bodrum or Gulluk for a nice place to wine and dine there are a variety of places to eat delicious food the area caters all tastes and children are always welcome. You can taste popular cuisines or Italian, Thai, Chinese, Mexican and European; but it is a good idea to taste at least one or two typical places with Turkish cuisine - otherwise you will miss out.
