Home description

This is a villa with "Wow!" factor. It is very spacious both inside and out and enjoys one of the very best locations in Torba. It has large terraces, perfect for al fresco dining by the pool or for relaxing in the shade. There is a built in barbecue and a large (6m by 8m) private swimming pool.

As we use the villa on a regular basis, it is furnished to the highest possible standard with all the mod cons we expect at home. There is satellite television in the lounge and also satellite TV in one bedroom, both with English and foreign stations. There is also WiFi internet access in the villa for those all-important emails!.

With 2 double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and double study/bedroom, the villa is ideal for families/friends who want to enjoy the sporting, cultural or hedonistic pleasures of Bodrum or Turkbuku. However, the setting is so idyllic, and the terraces so spacious, you may not want to leave the villa at all!

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

Attractively rugged, the Bodrum peninsula is a landscape of hills, mesas, craggy coves and windswept beaches. It is the most established and cosmopolitan of all the Turkish resort regions, offering excellent all year round facilities and producing or seducing celebrities since antiquity.

It has one of the best climates in Europe with low humidity levels in summer being the result of the gentle sea breezes that cool the shorelines.

Torba is ideally situated to enjoy the very best of what the Bodrum peninsula has to offer, being an equal distance from the hedonism of Bodrum itself and the sophistication of Turkbuku.

Fifteen minutes in one direction lies Bodrum, a unique resort which manages to combine the diverse elements of ancient and modern life with ease. For the more culturally inclined, with 5000 years of history (Bodrum was the birthplace of Herodotus in 484 B.C. and thrived under Mausolus), a visit to the Castle of St Peter and the Museum of Underwater Archaeology is a must. Ferries travel daily in the summer months from Bodrum to Kos and Rhodes.

In addition, Bodrum has plentiful bars, restaurants and nightlife for the pleasure seeker. Bodrum is the premier spot for night life on the peninsula and is the home of Halikarnas - an open-air club and the hottest night spot on Europe’s most easterly fringes. The Catamaran Club, a floating disco with a glass dance floor, sails every night around 1 a.m. For the less frenetic but still musically inclined, the Bodrum Marina Yacht Club offers excellent food accompanied by jazz and first class live 'cool' music in an elegant setting.

15 minutes in the other direction from Torba is Turkbuku, nominated by the New York Times as the St.Tropez of the future. Turkbuku night life is stylish, see-and-be-seen, and haughty. Turkbuku offers five-star amenities, such as the Suite Beach Club and Ev Turkbuku and Mavi Suite hotels and a plethora of up-market clubs, each with its own distinct crowd.

For example, at Seen, laid-back middle-aged doctors, lawyers and other professionals lounge under sun hats, occasionally checking the time on thick gold watches. At People, the assemblage is as encompassing as the name. College-age women, unshaven Turkish hipsters, patrician older men and vacationing families lay side by side. The Mio Beach and the adjacent Na Na beach club are the "epicentres of Turkbuku’s gilded youthquake" (NY Times)

For the more culturally inclined, the Roman ruins at Ephesus are about 3 hours drive away and many visitors also choose to visit Pamukkale (cotton castle), a mineral-bath spa famous world-wide for its white travertines.

Bodrum / Torba area

Torba itself is a pretty seaside village and is a favourite destination for Turkish holidaymakers. There are many delightful summer houses surrounded by flower filled gardens lining the small streets.

Much of the year the village is relatively unhurried but in summer it is swelled by families from Istanbul coming to their summer residences. The atmosphere is lively and Mediterranean.

Less than 15 minutes drive away from the villa you will find beaches, sailing, water skiing, scuba diving, boat hire, wind surfing, fishing, climbing, mountain biking, tennis, historic sites. Ferries travel regularly from Torba to Didyma, the site of the Temple of Apollo.

Less than 45 minutes drive away you will find horse riding, a water theme park

Whether you would like to spend your days swimming, learning how to sail and windsurf, scuba diving , or prefer to barter for a bargain at the pazar then relax on the beach, Torba offers an excellent combination of village life with the allure of a nearby busy resort town.

How to get there

AboutMyPlace

View Interactive Map

Bodrum airport is 35km from the property. There are flights from most UK international airports direct to Bodrum Milas airport.

Charter flights are available from XL (XL.com), Thomson (thomsonfly.com), Thomas Cook, (Thomascook.com), First Choice (firstchoice.co.uk) and Aegean Flights (aegeanflights.com).

Taxis from the airport cost about 30 Euros to Torba but cars can be collected from (and delivered back to) Milas airport. There are car hire offices at the airport but I have found that pre-booking through Cartrawler is a very efficient and economical way to hire a car.

There is a ferry from Kos to Bodrum..

Local buses (dolmus) are very cheap (60p) and can be waved down at any time.
