The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The Bodrum Peninsula is simply dazzling. Its magnificent landscape of olive groves and rocky crags is edged with pristine beaches, secret coves and sparkling blue waters. Idyllic fishing harbours, holiday villages, colourful bazaars and the remains of ancient civilisations sit side-by-side to create a unique mix of modern and traditional culture. Popular for its peaceful and relaxed pace of life, Turkey’s beautiful peninsula is the ideal villa holiday destination for lively days and leisurely nights – or vice versa. Along Turkey’s Bodrum peninsula coastline is where the ancient Greeks founded civilization; Alexander the Great and his legions paused to plunder rich cities, and Julius Caesar gathered his fleet. The Bodrum peninsula is home to a wealth of major archaeological sites and historical attractions. Among them are a medieval castle, the famous Myndus Gate and the Mausoleum. On your villa holiday, you can take a day trip back in time to ancient civilisations like the marble city of Ephesus - .The Bodrum peninsula is famed for its kilometres of magnificent coast, golden shoreline and year-round sunshine. Its beaches vary from huge sweeping bays of sensational powdery sand, to stunning natural coves secluded by pine trees. Boat trips will carry you from the bustle of Bodrum town to hidden bays untouched by tourism. Whether you plan to spend lazy days parked under a parasol or indulge in the numerous water sports on offer, The peninsula has many Blue Flag beaches provide endless opportunities for relaxation and a great setting for a family holiday.
There are several ways to explore the peninsula, the most enjoyable of which are to visit several of the bays and seaside villages via one of the daily boat trips available from Turgutreis harbour The other is to take the Dolmus, the local mini busses. Dolmus await the passenger for every destination. Destinations are clearly displayed on each vehicle and all one does is go and take a seat and wait for the bus to fill.
This beautiful Peninsula suits holidaymakers interested in a subdued and relaxing atmosphere. Enchanting villages, with guest-houses and small hotels on quiet bays, dot the peninsula.
Bodrum / Turgutreis area
Turgutreis is located 18 km from Bodrum at the WestPoint of the Bodrum peninsula and is the second largest residential area after Bodrum. Turgutreis is a modern Mediterranean town that blends modern living with nature, Begonvilles, oleanders and many other colourful plants and endless oil groves surrounds the town. Turgutreis is also famous for its Market and Bazaar. On Saturdays you should visit “Turgutreis Market” which here you can find fresh vegetables Colourful fruits and more, grown, collected and brought on the day by villagers. The popular market is a shopping haven for tourists as clothes, linen and gifts are in abundance and at bargain prices. We advise you take a trip around the Turgutreis Market and Bazaar Turgutreis has brilliant sea views and its 14 islands are famous for their history and natural beauty. There are numerous beautiful beaches embraced by the endless blue waters of the Turquoise Coast. It is possible to visit these wonderful islands (such as Kos) by ferryboats which departure everyday from Turgutreis old harbor. A new Marina has recently been built at a cost of around $38 million and boasts international cuisine and designer shopping. If you preferred to you can travel to the pretty villages that surround Turgutreis by “DOLMUS” (minibuses) and it only takes between 10 or 20 minutes. You will be able to find the most popular and various cuisines from all around the world but what we recommend is of course the Mediterranean cuisine and local fish meals. You should taste “Köpoðlu” a local appetizer made from aubergine, the meal would not be completed without a salad prepared with virgin olive oil. Turgutreis restaurants are rich with every kind of fish that can be found in the local waters. After a delicious dinner, the bars and pubs of Turgutreis will be waiting for you. You can dance with local or foreign music or you can watch soccer games on mega- screen TVs.
