The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region

The weather in Torba is excellent all through the summer from early April right through to the end of October, winter months can also be a very pleasant and often November can be classed as having an Indian Summer !

There is great history attatched to Bodrum and there are many places of interest including Bodrum Castle and the chic Yacht Marina.

Torba is a beautiful Mediterranean style fishing village set in a tranquil location on the Bodrum Peninsular and only 5km away from the hustle and bustle of Bodrum town centre.

Torba consists of a small but ample selection on good bars and restaurants, with some of Turkey's best hotels. The reputation amongst the Turkish people is that Torba is where the rich and famous Turks like to spend summer vacations and many have homes there.

The harbour is where all the main activity takes place and a small beach runs along the whole length of Torba Bay and is free to use. You can use the bigger beaches by the hotels but a charge may be made.

Only 5km from our Villa, Bodrum is vastly different from Torba. If you like the hustle and bustle of big towns then you must pay Bodrum a visit. Fantastic during the day for shopping and site seeing, the castle and harbour especially.

At night Bodrum comes alive with all the bars, clubs and restaurants doing a great trade. Bodrum is very cosmopolitan and you will find a huge range of international restaurants as well as many Turkish ones. The markets are great places to visit but remember to haggle with the stall holders, you have been warned.

The bus service from Torba to Bodrum runs until 6 a.m. in the morning during the summer season so if you fancy that late night you can still get home to the peace and quiet of our lovely villa.

"A fantastic villa, area and over all experiance"

When the villa was booked by family friends we really did not know what to expect, although the pictures looked great there is always the possibility it would not live up to expectations, the truth be told the villa and surounding area surpassed our expectations.
The villa its self had everything you could possibly need and more, it truly is a home from home .
The location of the villa is ideal if you want to stroll down to the local resturants the nearest no more than 5 minutes away, and beach is no more than 10 minutes walk from the villa. If you wish to head in to the nearest big town which is Bodrum then you can get on one of the local buses at the top or bottom road just outside the gated entrance it takes about 10 - 15 mins on the bus and it drops you right in the middle of the town, the buses run about every 15 mins and only cost just over £1.We had several bbq's during our stay (the bbq is in part of your own garden)i would suggest buying grocerys in Bodrum if you are eating in as the local shops are a little bit mor expensive
We as a group (there were 8 of us) enjoyed the whole exerperiance so much that we booked to return the following year as soon as we returned, but due to unexpected circumstances we had to cancel.
We did however return this year July 2011 with a differant set of friends and found that we enjoyed it this time more than the first, due to knowing the area and how to get about , we are hoping to go back next year 2012 as it really is a fantastic relaxing holiday.
The pool area is kept spotless by the full time on site handy man Memmet, the garden and bbq area have had work done to them as well as security doors fitted on the ground floor of the property.
John and Claire also arranged the transfers from and back to the airport which is only about a 30 minute drive on the mini bus, there is also a safe in the villa which is great for leaving passports, money ect
In summary we could not have wished for a better villa or area to stay in our first visit to Turkey

The villa was lovely in every way! Its location was great as a walk to the beach is a mere 5-10 minutes away as is a walk to the super market. The local buses that run to the centre of Bodrum literally stop just outside the compound gates which makes life very easy :)

The house itself is also stunning, very comfortable and roomy - easily fits as many people as it says it will without any squashing or discomfort! Sea view from the balcony terrace was beautiful to look at while eating dinner as well. The neighbours kept to themselves and were very polite.

And for those that don't know the local area or language at all the house owners had a very useful booklet full of information on transport, good restaurants and all sorts of other useful tips.

Overall a wonderful stay!
