The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
The weather in Torba is excellent all through the summer from early April right through to the end of October, winter months can also be a very pleasant and often November can be classed as having an Indian Summer !
There is great history attatched to Bodrum and there are many places of interest including Bodrum Castle and the chic Yacht Marina.
Bodrum / Torba area
Torba is a beautiful Mediterranean style fishing village set in a tranquil location on the Bodrum Peninsular and only 5km away from the hustle and bustle of Bodrum town centre.
Torba consists of a small but ample selection on good bars and restaurants, with some of Turkey's best hotels. The reputation amongst the Turkish people is that Torba is where the rich and famous Turks like to spend summer vacations and many have homes there.
The harbour is where all the main activity takes place and a small beach runs along the whole length of Torba Bay and is free to use. You can use the bigger beaches by the hotels but a charge may be made.
Only 5km from our Villa, Bodrum is vastly different from Torba. If you like the hustle and bustle of big towns then you must pay Bodrum a visit. Fantastic during the day for shopping and site seeing, the castle and harbour especially.
At night Bodrum comes alive with all the bars, clubs and restaurants doing a great trade. Bodrum is very cosmopolitan and you will find a huge range of international restaurants as well as many Turkish ones. The markets are great places to visit but remember to haggle with the stall holders, you have been warned.
The bus service from Torba to Bodrum runs until 6 a.m. in the morning during the summer season so if you fancy that late night you can still get home to the peace and quiet of our lovely villa.

Guestbook
Dear Claire
We just wanted to let you know that we had a completely chilled-out week at Villa Alemdar. It's a superbly well laid-out property and gave us the space to stretch out, stay cool or indulge in the sunshine as the mood took us. We're used to lots of sight-seeing but I have to tell you that, apart from one foray into Bodrum, a few sorties down to Olivia Cafe (grilled sea-bass served on the beach at a candle-lit table just inches from the waters edge - how exotic was that!) and the always reliable Menthol restaurant, we spent almost all our time at the villa itself - mainly in your fantastic pool, which our son in particular was reluctant to leave.
We didn't even get as far as the supermarket - it wasn't as if we actually needed anything more than the local store could offer so we went there instead. Anton and various other members of the Excel Villas team were frequently to be seen around the Seven Seas properties and were faultlessly friendly and accommodating.
To sum it up, a week at the Villa Alemdar was a completely successful antidote to the usual stress and pressures of work, commuting and school runs. Everything - the rooms, the furnishing, the equipment, the terraces and the setting - was exactly as you described it on the internet.
We hope you'll continue to let the villa out because we'd certainly like to visit again.
Thanks once again.
Best wishes
Steve and Liz Doswell (Aug 06)
