This wonderful 250 year-old house with its newer separate cottage have been carefully designed to accommodate large or small groups of up to 10 people. All the bedrooms face the large walled garden away from the village street, so are perfectly quiet. Plenty of bath/shower rooms serviced by a solar hot water system add to your comfort. There are two main outside dining areas, one seating 6-8, one up to ten people, whilst further seating and loungers can be found in the garden, on the roof terraces or around the pool. There is a further eating area for 4 in the cottage patio. A dining room for six inside adds to your choice. A breathtaking upstairs living area seats up to ten also. The house walls in the old house are extremely thick and the windows are traditionally small to counter the summer heat, the cottage is fully air conditioned. There are three outside showers at the house and the cottage, the private pool is not overlooked and there are extensive views to the countryside and sea beyond from the garden and the two terraces. The main house roof terrace is perfect for watching the famous Yalikavak sunsets as the whole house and gardens are built South facing. Star gazing is also perfect from this vantage point.
This old house is the perfect place for a relaxing, quiet holiday, whilst soaking up the sun you can soak up the atmosphere of a truly traditional Turkish village, where life is still slow enough to stop and smile, take tea and chat. A rare treat

The Turquoise Coast/Lycia region
You can pretty much guarantee blue skies, sunshine and warm water on the Aegean Coast in the summer. In general they have mild winters and good summers, the southern coast hitting the high 30s in June and staying high until well into the autumn. Temperatures of 40 degrees are not unknown in August, although prevailing breezes wafting the Northern part of the peninsula keep it pleasant.
Beautiful long stretches of sand coupled with intricate rocky coves and sharply bright aquamarine water set against a backdrop of deep green pine tree forests make this coastline a strikingly beautiful place, there are still hidden away places where you can enjoy its charm alone. If you are a history buff, then this is the place for you, it's groaning with it!
Close by is the ancient harbour of Gumusluk, where you can still see parts of the old Greek city under the waters. Bodrum town boasts an amphitheatre and St Peter's Castle complete with dungeons dating from the Crusades. The small, but perfectly formed Iassos ancient city lies beyond Gulluk about an hour's drive, you will find a great fish restaurant there too; so make a day of it! Further afield, but only a couple of hours away, is the massive Temple of Apollo in Didim, the ancient amphitheatres at Priene and Milet and the spectacular almost complete ancient city at Ephes although the furthest (3-4 hours) is deemed to be one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Prepare to be amazed!
Yalikavak, about 1.5 kms from Gokcebel, is a charming unspoiled village, nestling amongst lush tangerine and lemon orchards, with a functioning fishing harbour where visiting yachts and fishing boats bob cheerfully together. More relaxed than the busier holiday resorts, it exudes a wonderful mix of laid back local life and Mediterranean chic. Yalikavaks' boundaries stretch in the North from the old marina, right around the bay, to the brand new modern Port Bodrum marina to the south, which hosts numerous world-class sailing events throughout the year. Life in and around the region focuses on the sea and is a mecca for water sport enthusiasts, with kite and windsurfing and scuba diving topping the bill. For those in search of a more languid affair, a private gulet charter around some of the local islands is a must, which can be arranged with us. Between the two marinas are a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and many small sandy beaches, where you can sit with an ice cold drink and watch the best sunsets on the peninsula. The main street in Yalikavak is well served with a variety of shops and supermarkets. Behind the main village is the Bus Station, Municipal offices, bank and the area on which the Yalikavak market is held every Thursday. This market was voted in the TOP Three markets in the whole of Turkey in 2009.
Yalikavak, now known as 'The Saint Tropez of Turkey' truly has the potential to become one of the hotspots of the area.
Bodrum, 15 kms from Yalikavak, is a town of many parts, sophisticated and fun, tranquil and hectic. Set on the harbour with its focal point of the beautiful 12th C. St. Peter's castle, it boasts hundreds of bars and restaurants and a lively yacht club right on the water's edge. This is a sophisticated haunt, encompassing different style restaurants great bars and clubs with live music 'till late.
The original town is a maze of little alleys and lanes twisting and turning around its sugar cube houses with their mysterious high-walled gardens. It is an all year round place, which makes it so special for the out of season visitor; no dead streets with nowhere to find a meal whenever November strikes. There is a summer music and film festival in Bodrum every year.
Bitez has beautiful sandy beaches great watersports and the best Sunday brunches I have ever tasted.

"The perfect family summer holiday"
The Old Stone House and Cottage were the perfect place to take our extended family on holiday. It was the first time we have taken all four daughters (and two friends) away for a holiday abroad in the sun. Friends of ours had recommended the house, particularly as it was characterful, charming, beautifully decorated with a peaceful garden and outdoor pool. The owner was really helpful before we went, organising transfers from the airport and car hire as well as recommending places to visit, eat and shop. The weather was very hot and the kids spent hours in the pool. In the evening my husband enjoyed using the outdoor wood fired oven and we all chilled out playing backgammon. The house was looked after by a local chap and his wife cooked an authentic Turkish meal for us, it was fun taking her shopping and learning about Turkish cuisine. Whilst we were there we went on a gulet boat trip, which the owner had organised for us with one of her friends. This was fantastic, a real highlight. The car hire people gave us the best rate on the exchange rate and were very helpful in general. Yalikavak, Gumusluk and Bodrum were all great places to visit, stroll through, eat and relax in the sun. Off season I would imagine it would be a perfect location from which to explore the mountains and other sites of antiquity. We would recommend this property to families and people who want to relax in a real home, tucked away from the hustle and bustle of villa resorts.

"Beautiful house in peaceful surroundings"
Eljay gave great tips and advice about flights, car hire, places to visit and couldn't have been more helpful. Always a delight to deal with. The traditional Turkish style of the house made the stay most enjoyable. The accommodation was clean and everything had been provided. There were plenty of places to sit both in and out of the sun and the pool was very beautiful. A very relaxing stay and we hope to return at some point in the future. The second bedroom is a little small as is the wardrobe, but we used the many baskets and it was not a problem. Thoroughly recommend.

"Lovely, characterful house for people who like something different"
Nestled up a hill in a village only 10 minutes from the beach. Ideal if you like privacy, character and peace and quiet. The owners are lovely and their contact for local car hire is delightful.

beautifully renovated traditional house and garden. Has some quirks of an old-fashioned place in this area (eg, small bedrooms), but this is far more than made up for by charm and interest surpassing anything you could get in more recent construction. The garden, small pool, and upstairs deck area are particularly idyllic and great for relaxing.
The owner was incredibly helpful and provides many valuable tips for outings and fun stuff to do in the area.
