Well known as the "holiday destination" in the UK, the West Country abounds with history, breath taking views and miles and miles of beaches. The mild climate means exotic plants thrive, and there are many gardens open to the public with spectacular examples of colourful shrubs and plants. The coastal footpath is open to all and stretches the length of Cornwall, offering unparallelled walks and beaches. The quaint fishing villages and moorland pubs and restaurants are plentiful. Cornwall is a County of contrasts, with the romance of Bodmin Moor, its ponies and sheep and the surfing paradise of Newquay, with its nightlife, there is something to suit everyone.
Ley Cottage is very conveniently located for touring Cornwall - Nearby is the Eden Project, Lanhydrock House and Carnglaze Caverns, which hosts various concerts throughout the year in the famous underground caves.
The North and South Coast are easily accessible (approximately 30 minutes) and the local award winning village of St. Neot (10 minutes) has a pub, shop and church. Trago Mills, just down the hill, has more or less anything you could wish to buy, including clothing, wetsuits, fishing gear, tools, fruit and vegetables, meat, bread, pies and pasties! Also a hairdressers, plenty of parking and peacocks amongst other things.
The Loveny River winds through the Loveny valley just below Ley Cottage and the road adjoining the river takes you to Bodmin and beyond.
Looe, Polperro and Fowey on the south coast and Polruan, Camelford and Port Isaac are all an easy drive from the cottage, or travel further afield to the far west, Lands end, the Minack theatre and St Ives are well worth a visit.
This historical and romantic county is easy to fall in love with and you probably won't want to leave - many don't!!
