BookThe West Country / Cornwall region
Cornwall is rightly famous for its endless supply of sandy beaches and harbours and we're particularly fortunate to be close to so many! Places like Padstow, Polzeath, Port Isaac, Tintagel, Boscastle, Fowey & Looe are all under 30 minutes drive from us! Cornwall is also blessed with more than it's fair share of wonderful historic houses & gardens, both National Trust and privately owned and many of these, including The Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project are on the 'must see' list for many people! Lanhydrock House (NT) and gardens, like many others in Cornwall, are stunning places to visit, particularly in Spring & early Summer.
Walkers, too, are also spoilt for choice and we can offer wonderful moorland and forest walks from the doorstep or amazing coastal paths just slightly further away! Furthermore, we're only two miles from the Camel Trail to Padstow so the area is ideal for cyclists, too! What are you waiting for?
Close to Bodmin Moor and scenic north cornish coast.
Celtic region with local festivals, Padstow Obby Oss, Helston Flora, Oyster Festival Rock, Firework Festival, Plymouth, Carnivals and ralleys. Sandy beaches and Atlantic rollers, great for surfing at Polzeath and Newquay. Mild sunny climate. Historic National Trust houses and English Heritage sites throughout County
The Bodmin / St Breward area
Bodmin Moor offers everything Dartmoor provides but in a less crowded way!
Moorland and Coastal views from the various tors and moorland equestrian facilities closeby.
Cycle hire from nearby Wadebridge and Bodmin for the Camel Trail and access to the National Cycle Network
Colliford Lake / Lidn Resyein
Located south of Jamaica Inn, the famous smugglers haunt immortalised by Daphne du Maurier, Colliford is a tranquil lake providing some excellent moorland walks.
With ample parking, picnic areas and lakeside walks, Colliford provides the opportunity for a peaceful day in the countryside.
The Nature Reserve is an important site for birdlife including over-wintering wildfowl.
The lake offers traditional fly fishing for natural brown trout and is regarded as Cornwall's premier brown trout fishery. Permits are available from The Jamaica Inn 01566 86250.
Swimming and Gymnasium nearby (Hengar Manor)
Tintagel Castle, Pencarrow, Lanhydrock, Eden Project are all within easy reach and many other attractions suitable for families, e.g. Crealy Adventure Park.
