100 year old Farmhouse Katricnek has been lovingly renovated into three high-quality apartments and has an outdoor pool for the exclusive use of our guests. Working closely with our Slovenian architect and the local heritage board, we were determined to preserve the charm of the building as much as possible during its transformation into quality holiday accommodation. Several years later, after much hard work, we're proud to welcome you to our Farmhouse; some of the finest holiday accommodation Slovenia has to offer. Forgive us if we sound a bit smug but it's turned out really well and we're pleased as punch.

The Gorenjska region
Perhaps the most amazing thing about Slovenia is how unknown it still is. A combination of tight lipped refusal by those who have been and don't want it to change, coupled with a lack of advertising budget has meant that it isn't even on most people's holiday radar.
It's difficult to express how different modern Slovenia is to any preconceptions many people might have about Eastern Europe. This area was the most prosperous and liberal region of the former Yugoslavia and officially became Slovenia in 1991. It now has the most successful economy of all the countries to join the EU in 2004. Unscathed by conflict, the stunning architecture of Ljubljana and the spectacular scenery across the rest of the country remains very much as it was under the control of neighbouring Vienna during the illustrious days of the Hapsburg empire.
Bled / Bohinjska Bela area
Everyone wants different quantities of relaxation and adventure on a family holiday in Slovenia. Some like just a tablespoon of one while others want jugs of the stuff. Helpfully, the Farmhouse is both tranquil and very accessible (just 30 minutes from the airport) allowing you to mix your holiday cocktail exactly how you like it.
You can lounge away the morning at Bled in a lakeside café, tour the island church, then pop into a shop or two before dinner. If you're feeling a little more Indiana Jones you can head down to Lake Bohinj and paraglide out across the beautiful Triglav National Park. There are more activities at Bohinj than you can shake a paddle at, from horse-riding to rock-climbing and everything in between. And once we get everything finished off, you'll be able to head back home, grab your robe and meander downstairs to the private wellness centre for some top class pampering. Lovely.
How to get there
From the UK: Easyjet fly to Ljubljana (30min from us) from London Stanstead. Ryanair fly to Klagenfurt in Austria (60min) and Treviso in Italy (2hrs). There are also scheduled flights to/from Brussels, Paris, Frankfurt & Vienna.
On leaving the airport, turn left and follow direction signs to Jesenice. This will take you onto the motorway. Stay on this road until you see the exit for Bled (Jnct 3). Follow this road across a roundabout and through one set of lights and into Bled. You will come to a set of traffic lights in Bled, go straight ahead, following directions for Bohinj. You will follow the lake edge in Bled and on out of the town. Keep on the same road. A few kilometers out of Bled you will see the sign for Bohinjska Bela on your right. Turn right here and on into the village. Keep going through the village, past the school and under the railway. Shortly after a right hand bend you will see a small sign for Apartma Katricnek (on the wall of a yellow painted house). Turn right here and go up the lane. The house is on your right.

Further details outdoors: Situated in a secluded part of the rear garden is our solar heated swimming pool. At 8x4m it is big enough to have some real fun. There's also a BBQ area and mini orchard with benches and loads of room to lie back and sunbathe or go pixie hunting- depending on how mature you're feeling - plus a hot tub jacuzzi. Like country holidays in the movies, you can pick your breakfast off the vine, or grill your dinner on the barbecue under the cliff. Climb up to the top if you'd like to go exploring, but be careful please, it's high and we get nervous. You can always just hang around on the balcony where the views are nearly as fantastic and pleasantly close to the fridge and the sofa.

"Very comfortable accommodation. The new pool was the highlight for my children. Beautiful location - we often walked to the stunning Lake Bled, approx a 40 minute walk which was well worth it. Owners very friendly and helpful. Overall a very enjoyable week. Recommended."

The village has 2 restaurants, both of which we enjoyed eating in, and a shop, all within walking distance. The conversion has been done recently and tastefully, our part of the property having 2 bedrooms and 2 shower-rooms which was great when the 4 of us got back after climbing mountains or swimming in lakes."
