The Gorenska region
Lake Bled is situated in the Eastern foothills of the Alps, and on the edge of the Slovenian Triglav National Park. It is known for its stunning beauty. It features a fairytale lake with Island, on which stands a picture postcard church. To complete the picture there is a castle perched atop a cliff overlooking the lake, with mountains in background to complete the magical look.
Just 20 km away from Austria, and 40 Km from Italy, it has more of a western feel than you might expect.

How to get there
Bled is just a 30 minute drive from Ljubljana airport - there is also a good coach service.
Ljubljana is served by Adria Air and EasyJet (from Stansted).
